Hello everyone,

I am interested in buying a TT DJ, 116233 watch. However, the very few I find for sale seem to all have a white dial with Roman numerals which I don't care too much for.

I was wondering how much would it cost (parts and service fees) to have the dial replaced with another one, say with another type of numerals? Many thanks in advance.

really, 16233, mosty I see have gold/champaign dials.....

Anyway, it's pretty easy for a good watch tech

Thanks John. Actually, the two or so I saw advertised in RTF had white dial. Any idea how much a new dial would cost? and how much RSC would charge to change it? or would an AD change it for a fee? Many thanks.

I'll wait for the right dial to come along and then buy.
They are out there.
Just have to be a tiny bit more patient.
It is always nice to have everything original from factory.

Great advice IMONO, make the most sense-

OP, nobody is going to change a dial for "free".

Quality preown dial for DJ (36mm) could be had for between $100 on up in the grey market. Cost can be alittle more from your local watch shop but prices can be lower if you are doing a swap which they will keep your original dial. Cost to get a local shop to change the dial runs between $90 to $150. The higher end of the service cost are for more complicated models like the Daytona.

If you're buying new from an AD, then that AD can either order or send back a stock watch for Rolex to swap the dial as part of the sale.

If you're acquiring a preowned, or buying gray market, then Rolex will sell you a new dial on an exchange basis (you don't get to keep the old one) with a few requirements...first, they will only do it as part of a routine service (extra cost) and they will only allow the swap to be of a like kind dial. Yes, Rolex considers some of its dial offerings to be 'premium', even though that would not be reflected in the price when new...so, if you're starting with a 'stick' dial, they'll allow a swap to another stick version...same with Romans, same with Arabs.

Another alternative is to find the dial of your dreams on a secondary market (auction site, parts and accessories sections of sales forum, other sales forums, on line sellers) and then the watch and have a skilled watchmaker do the swap.

I had to replace my blue sub dial. I went to my local AD and I paid $300 (including trade). This included parts and labor.

You have to be wary though. Watchmaker almost recommended a full service since the movement was exposed.

If you buy the dial you want independently it will cost between $100 and $600
I know this is a wide price gap ..but this is Rolex and it all depends how rare
or how new the dial is.
Labor to change the dial is between $30 and $50 depending of the relationship you
have with your watchmaker, anyone asking for more (?)...you better go elsewhere.

HI Bought an OEM Dial off ebay for $300, $60 to have face changed at local watchmaker, while I watched and waited...worked well!

I had the dial on my Datejust changed yesterday, as a matter of fact, and it cost $35 at a low-rent independant shop. But, I had to leave there overnight.

Tempoking can source you one. I will buy my next dial from him. On another note, Rolex (RSC) will do dial swap but not sport models....at least not here in the states.

An Authorized Dealer can order you pretty much any dial you want. This is assuming it is approved for your DJ model.

I thought about changing mine when I was in the "buyer's remorse" period. It will cost you the dial and a full service at a Rolex service center.

Of course there are some grey dealers here on TRF who can probably find you whatever you want.

ive been told that, for the Daytona, the hands on the sub dials always get damaged when replacing the dial. is that true?
