1968 Ladies Datejust Oyster
I just bought a 1968 Ladies Datejust Oyster Perpetual. Its in fantastic condition and I absolutely love it. I've just run into one problem - the stainless oyster bracelet does not seem to be adjustable. I took it to the Rolex dealer to verify its authenticity and he adjusted the clasp, but it still needs 1 link removed. He said he didn't think a link could be removed and didn't want to attempt it.
I'm planning on having it sent to ROLEX USA to be serviced - do you think they could do it? I really don't want to replace the bracelet - I love the style from this time period, but I have a really small wrist. |

Your 1968 model probably has a bracelet with folded links. There are no links that can be adjusted by simply removing a screw.
But it can be adjusted. I am surprised that a Rolex dealer would tell you otherwise. The procedure involves prying open two adjacent folded links, removing one and closing the remaining link. It is not a job for most owners as it is very easy to crease the links and permanently damage the bracelet. I learned this the expensive way. Any watchmaker, but certainly any Rolex watchmaker should be able to do this for you. Better to be there so the bracelet can be properly fit to your wrist rather than send it off. Mark |

You have described my bracelet exactly - probably next time I'm in a larger city I'll stop in at the Rolex dealer and see if they can do it -
