Panerai 112 a short review

Having had my 112 for a few weeks here’s a short review.

To add some background this is Panerai no.3 for me, having sold both 390 & 233.

Like many, the past 18 minutes months have made me look at things differently. I’m blessed to still have a business and working from home made me really evaluate what I wanted in my watches. Rolex went out to be replaced by Omega Seamaster 300 & Speedmaster.

I sold my 233 at the end of last year as the opportunity to own an old-school Franck Muller arose. I now had a dress watch, a daily and a vintage.

But, I missed having a Panerai, but not the ones I sold.

The 390 was great, but the tobacco dial and yellowed lume bothered me. The 233 was beautiful but just too busy for a Panerai.

I needed a base model again, but I wanted to see the movement and I wanted a black dial.

When this early G series came up, with the decorated movement, I jumped!

Having owned a 390 I knew the 44mm Bettarini case was a perfect fit and being manual it didn’t sit too high (it’s still a big watch). The polished case and exhibition back is beautiful. The dial is a painted dial as opposed to sandwich, but this doesn’t bother me at all. The lume is incredible as can be expected and strap changes are a cinch with the OEM screwdriver.

Here pictured on a painted Gustav by Cordes Straps.

Painted dials on these era of Panerai are class.

Lovely looking watch. Enjoy.

I had a 112. It was a sandwich dial. Absolutely love this watch. It’s one I regret selling.
