pam 1314 as first panerai?

Due to some weird circumstances, i might have to make a pretty quick buying decision on picking up a PAM1314 as my first panerai in a few days. I am usually much more deliberate….an over thinker….

I’ve not seen a 1314 in the metal yet, but I expressed interest to a dealer I trust, and the opportunity will present…..

Thoughts? Advice?

Having only seen pictures i must say:
Its kind of ironic that a brand known for clear and legible dials would release a watch that looks so hard to read...

Its a pass from me, but you do you

I have to ask, why is there urgency to make this purchase? Does the dealer have another buyer ready to buy? Usually dealers can source watches for clients so…..why wouldn’t they be able to find another?

So on to the watch . Black dials make I’d say 90% of their production. Anything besides black is more niche. I’d say for your first Pam this might not be the ideal model. It definitely an upper level Panerai but since you haven’t seen it I’d pass for this model.

I can only say that I bought one because it was different, easy to read and not your typical Panerai. Its honestly one of my favorite watches. That said, if you aren't sure, I wouldn't buy it. Those types of purchases typically don't end well. While its true you probably can't go into a dealer and buy one, they can usually be sourced within a month and they are also available on the pre-owned or gray market. My incoming thread is out there with some good pics and experience from others that might help. Good luck.

It's the only white dialed Panerai I have liked.
I have the sister watch, the blue dialed 1313.

Two suggestions:
1. Try to get a discount because they do not hold value.
2. Go with the strap. Makes the watch "pop". Not a fan of the bracelet.
Good luck.

I’ve had a 1314 for a while now, and I have to completely disagree with you on this one. The dial is very legible - it’s uncluttered, clear, and plenty of contrast with the hands. Lume is first rate too.

If just returned to Panerai for the 3rd time. 390 LE was my first. I didn’t get on with tobacco dial. 233 was just too busy for Panerai. Just got a 112 Base. Black dial, no fuss and it feels just like a Panerai should. Go and try it. You’ll know if it feels right.

I'm a fan. The dial is not the norm for Panerai and that's exactly why I like it. If you want to follow the mainstream then this is not the first Panerai for you.

I’d only buy it after seeing it. Buying sight unseen wouldn’t work for me. I’m not sure if this is where the sense of urgency is, maybe I misunderstand your post

Never buy sight unseen. Wise comments by other people. I saw the 1312, 1313, and 1314 at the same time at a boutique. My wallet went to the black dialed 1312 (but not from the boutique) :)

UPDATE: Hi….So i decided to go for a 915 as my first Panerai and am delighted. Love the 1314, but decided that is a better choice for my next one…..Thanks for all your thoughts!

Saw one this weekend. While I thought it was a bold and striking move by Panerai, it was not for me. Picked up the blue 1313.....gorgeous.

The 1313 is fantastic! Congratulations! I saw one at an AD and was almost swayed.

I'm enjoying my 915 so much it is crazy. I now own way too many straps!! However, I am waiting for another 1314 to show up in my area to try on. I think it might be a nice complement. But I need to see them, together. My current thinking.
