DOXA's Colorful Watches/My Rolex OP Substitute
As a Collector/Buyer/Seller/Flipper of all things watches I have cornered the market for DOXA 1500T watches. I have bought all of the colors and variations and have all the optional straps available that are not back ordered. Why did I do this, one theory brought forth by my wife is that I have no sense. I can not dispute this because my actions could give someone with sense a pause. But as WIS will acknowledge this hobby sometimes sets aside sense and becomes about passion. Or, I have too much time on my hands and access to disposable funds. Not wrong either. On to the watches. I have always liked dive watches and have owned many brands from Rolex, Omega, Tudor, Seiko, Hamilton, Tag Heuer, Tissot and Panerai. When Rolex introduced the new OP line-up I was fascinated with the colors and thought it would be fun to have the Coral, Turquoise, Yellow and maybe the Silver. But like everything else Rolex, this model blew-up and the prices jumped to what I considered an extreme right out of the gate. I am one that will pay Grey market prices to a point but that point was long gone with the OP's for me.
I had played around with DOXA before and had owned a 300 and a 300T and an older Caribbean in the 45mm size. So I jumped in and picked the 1500T for the 45mm case size and wear and really like the watches. I own all six, Blue, Black, Yellow, Silver, Turquoise and the classic Orange. The watches are fun to own and wear and I swap the OEM rubber straps out for the bracelets. It gives me my color fix and I think I have purchased all of the Doxa's and strap/bracelet options for less than the Grey Market price of the Coral or Turquoise OP41. It is not just about the money but it is about enjoying what you have and balancing price with ownership. The Doxa's keep good time, typically plus 3-6 seconds a day, and are very robust. I would say to anyone that would listen that wants the OP in a color but is shut out from msrp at an AD, check it out. My pictures are lacking but they can a least convey the look and colors. |

I've always been a fan of Doxa and if you like colour they have a great selection. Great collection you have there.
I would think the Sub 200 line would be more comparable to the OP although not the traditional Doxa.

What a fabulous collection and your wife's reason for your collection nearly made me choke with laughter on a mouthful of tea, wasn't expecting that.
Brilliant collection. I was looking at Doxa watches in a jewellers in Leeds the other week, really fine looking pieces.

I'm always considering the sub 200 in turquoise with stainless steel bracelet. Just cannot justify getting yet another diver..

Thanks for the nice comments. As a long time watch person I have found that everything does not have to make sense in my collection and there is room for fun. I probably could have explained better in my original post that there is a huge difference in case size and purpose of the OP lineup and DOXA but it is about the colors, the striking colors.

If one is in the market for an OP because of the dials, I see the appeal.
Dive watches are my favorite genre. These are fun attainable options. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Fantastic collection. I was going to say 'alternative collection to the OP', but DOXA is such a great brand that it holds its own weight.
I would rather have your collection. Brilliant! |
