Who cares how “it is viewed” it is a great brand with great watches. If you are worried about how your watch is “viewed” buy a Rolex and join that crowd, meaning the new crowd. Not the passionate owners but the ones with the thoughtful posts about value, scratches, showers, etc.

Love my 112 but some of the things the ‘brand’ does, particularly on social media, is nothing short of embarrassing. As in I cannot believe they actually did that embarrassing.

As time has passed, PAM is basically a fashion brand with different case technologies / materials. Movements seem to be less of a concern during recent years, perhaps helping to lower the company's cost of those, to ensure higher profit... and reliability by using more durable / known movements such as those from ETA.
Am not sure why Panerai doesn't at least make some effort for better anti-mag tho, even my $5000 Tudor uses modern tech for that. So am at odds to justify Panerai raising of average price scheme if the movement is taking a back seat to case materials. Maybe they invested too much into case material R&D and so movement tech suffers accordingly to help balance their accounting books? I guess what I'm saying is you're buying a style... and case material. Not so much the movement as you would with many other like-priced brands such as Omega, Rolex, AP... and even far lower priced Tudor. Think of Panerai like Bell&Ross-ish, yet different case tech and Panerai's higher average pricing.

but i still get the appeal" Buy one now whilst price not that hot and easily available. Wear it alternately with your Rolexes. Once you worn PAM, and when you wear your rolex , the Rolex feels delicate and timid looking. It speaks differently. Rolex will tell you be on the safe side, take it easy. PAM will tell you, go for it , hit it hard, hit it harder, hit it hardest. You wear and you will know, it can be hurtful but the pain pays off well in the end. If you worry about secondary market or who will be paying for your casket, then you should not buy and wear a PAM. |

I’ve been a die hard Paneristi for decades. I still love the old Panerai but nowadays, I’ll walk right past the boutique. I look upon the newer pieces as nothing more than over priced fashion watches. It’s a damn shame how they killed the brand.
