Recently obtained a 1960's breitling 806 navitimer. Few questions?

Recent service but maintained original parts. Can it get wet?

Is it a bad idea to get a metal bracelet? I don't think that would be original....

I wouldn’t let it get wet.

Many have been worn on bracelets, but most are aftermarket with straight endlinks. I believe the only OEM bracelet that was available was mesh with curved ends, but these are extremely rare and extremely expensive. If you are going aftermarket, perhaps look at those from the revived Forstner brand, as they have an authentic vintage vibe.

Thanks. What makes you believe this is the case. Everywhere seems to sell them on a strap. How expensive are we talking?

Of course most are sold on straps. I didn’t say they were sold on a bracelet by default, but that there was only one OEM option available. Anyway, if you can find one, they are priced well above $1000.

Thanks. That's a lot but I'd rather spend that kind of money on an original one versus new

Try not to get it wet. The chronograph pushers will be a risk. Originality is important for the watch head; different straps and bracelet adds to the character.

I would not, even with a recent service. I would treat it as splash resistant at best. I had a new 41 Navitimer and it had minimal water resistance when new. It's not a superocean and was never meant to be.

Yeah I just washed my hands and got condensation beneath the crystal. Have had it for 48 hours... It was just recently serviced too.

I'm guessing there isn't anything I can do to prevent condensation, aside from adjusting how I wash my hands?

I’m sorry to hear that. If your watchmaker is accessible, it would be good for them to take a look. Perhaps give them a call.

sorry to hear. That's unacceptable in my opinion. I can understand mine from 1968...
