Recently obtained a 1960's breitling 806 navitimer. Few questions?
Recent service but maintained original parts. Can it get wet?
Is it a bad idea to get a metal bracelet? I don't think that would be original.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I wouldn’t let it get wet.

Of course most are sold on straps. I didn’t say they were sold on a bracelet by default, but that there was only one OEM option available. Anyway, if you can find one, they are priced well above $1000.

Thanks. That's a lot but I'd rather spend that kind of money on an original one versus new Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Try not to get it wet. The chronograph pushers will be a risk. Originality is important for the watch head; different straps and bracelet adds to the character.

I would not, even with a recent service. I would treat it as splash resistant at best. I had a new 41 Navitimer and it had minimal water resistance when new. It's not a superocean and was never meant to be.

Yeah I just washed my hands and got condensation beneath the crystal. Have had it for 48 hours... It was just recently serviced too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm guessing there isn't anything I can do to prevent condensation, aside from adjusting how I wash my hands?

I wouldn't .. my re-edition is currently at Breitling for water intrusion just from 10 seconds in rain ... and the new one is rated at 5 BAR ...

I’m sorry to hear that. If your watchmaker is accessible, it would be good for them to take a look. Perhaps give them a call. |
