Random acts....

I was gifted a pledge membership by a very generous member here. I tried to donate to a charity of their choice but they told me “just to continue to speak/post my mind”. I won’t say their name (I don’t know if they want recognization or not) but I now feel compelled to show my support to this forum and to some charities or YOUR choice.

So here goes speaking my mind.

In the spirit of tipping 1000% I will pledge 5 members who comment on this thread and I will donate $30 to another 5 causes that are mentioned in this thread.

This is not a “Flex”

This is ......

A) A way to show support for the forum and hopefully encourage others to support it.

B) A small act to show that 1000% doesn’t have to break anyone, kindness and generosity are what matters.

C) Hopefully bring light to some great causes that some of us charitable members wouldn’t have known about prior. (This can be any cause, the more localized the better in my opinion).

I will pick the 5 members and the 5 charities once there is a decent amount of posts and make the donations under each respective members user name.

Thanks guys and it’s a pleasure to be a part of this forum!!

Nice gesture. Please don't pledge me, however, I love to support The 100 Club or St. Mary's Food Bank.

Very generous of you. I’m sure there will be many good causes brought to light here.

My wife works for Family and Children’s Services of Waterloo County. They provide children’s care to over 500 families in need. She also works on a child trafficking task force which reaches across Canada and has international reach. Funds are always put to good use

In a world that is becoming ever more divisive what a truly inspiring, uplifting and positive post!!

This place is bloody awesome! Well done you.

I wish you all the happiness in the world.

You mentioned a possible charitable donation.

I believe this charity is simply wonderful. They take very poorly children (some terminal) on a trip of a lifetime (without parents) to Florida fully supported by an army of doctors, nurses and other specialists.
It was set up by a BA stewardess in the 1980’s I believe. They get a Special BA flight with pilots in fancy dress, motorcade from US police who do wheelies etc on their motorbikes and absolutely everyone involved every step of the way are just incredible human beings.

https://www.dreamflight.org

My wife works with one of the medical volunteers who uses her annual leave for each trip and her stories of how people all come together to give the children a once in a lifetime trip always brings me to tears.

Have a great day everyone.

St. Mary's Food Bank feeds families in need. We donate to them on a regular basis and also do some volunteering there. It's a phenomenal operation.

Dont pledge me, just dropping in to commend that this is encouraging to see. If everyone can all take something and just keep paying it forward, imagine the upside.... Already donating to children's cancer research institute.

Shriner hospitals for kids is always my number one charity.
In fact you can even help them when purchasing from Amazon.

This is a great thing to do Mr. Goat and to remind others to do. I’ll be making a donation myself. Don’t pledge me, but a couple good ones are Autism Speaks and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Just when you think genuinely "good" people don't ("exist")....this stuff comes back around, so I expect what ever thing in the universe controls our outcomes will reward you and your family with the equally good things in life.
Toast to you....

Haven’t gotten around to figuring out how to use Wise (I’ve boycotted PayPal) to pay for the pledges (I should have it figured out by the end of the day) but wanted to update. I’ve made the 5 donations to the charities I have picked. I will pick 5 more next month and subsequently until I am gone, can’t anymore or the thread gets deleted. I implore all those reading this thread to do one act of kindness a week (on top of any routine acts) and see how much it affects you at the end of the month. I want to reiterate, I am not bringing my personal donations up as a flex, I am bringing them up to raise awareness and demonstrate that I am actually putting my money where my mouth is to help others less fortunate.

Thank you all for appreciating the thread and I hope it inspires you!! Please keep posting charities that do great things for our communities.
