Green Sub in the Pool?

Ok, recently picked up a Kermit. In the past, I have swam in chlorinated swimming pools many times. But they were always the standard black on black sub and never had an issue. A buddy of mine saw the Kermit and warned me not to swim with it. I can't imagine this could matter, but hey, it's my first Kermit. Is anyone getting in the pool regularly with the Kermit. Bezel fade? Chlorine issue? Anything? Thanks guys.

This would be very sad if you couldn't wear a dive-watch in the pool. If you are concerned, just wear it in the shower after swimming.

As long as your pool isn’t deeper than 1000 ft = 300 m you’re all good

I’d be more concerned about seals being water tight on an older sub.

There is nothing you can do to prevent your watch from ageing, picking up scratches, bezel fade etc. (Except never wear it, ever).

It’s a dive watch. It’s designed to get wet. But it is not designed to resist wear and tear. If you use it it will look used.

Just the regular wear and tear of daily wear. I would use it once I had it pressure tested.

The 16610Lv’s been out for like 15 years and I’ve never seen a thread here about the bezel fading or issues in the pool. I’ll bet it’s perfectly safe

Up next will be a thread asking if we can wear our watches while in bright sunlight as the UV rays might fade the bezel.

Next up it’ll be ‘is it safe to wear my watch, full stop?’ Or ‘Is it safe to use my watch for time keeping’.

A few guys swap the original bezel out for an aftermarket one and keep the original in a drawer. I’d rather bang up the original one myself.

A pool of sulfuric acid might do some damage. Chlorinated water, not so much.

People pay crazy prices for faded (GMT) bezels so what's the problem if it starts fading?

yep, I know.

Thx, yep, I knew it sounded crazy, but it was the chlorine and that great green bezel he got me worried about.

It's a Rolex Sub, right? I think the pool is fine. I'd wear it. Faded or not...

You’re going to need a helium escape valve for that type of use.
