116500 trade 116519 Oysterflex
Happy Friday all,
I have just had the call we all love. 116519LN White gold Oysterflex Daytona has been allocated to me and ready for collection. Now only recently I have taken a 116655 off my friend at a very respectable price but this has also reduced my disposable funds. What I have learnt however is that the Oysterflex bracelet really is as comfy as they say and that when swapping back to my 116500 (white dial) it just does not feel the same. To fund the PM I need to move the SS. Opinions welcome, All fun and games in this hobby. |

While I would normally say take some time to think about selling your 116500 you don’t have that luxury with your 116519LN waiting for you. I would find another way to fund the new watch unless you’re absolutely sure you want to let go of the 116500

Really depends on you. If you got the 116500 for MSRP, you could take advantage of the bubble and help fund the PM piece.
I would be at a crossroads with this as well, I love the WG and the dial with the black registers; but the SS is such a hard piece to get that it is almost perfect if you did get it at MSRP. If I was in your shoes with my current collection, I would keep the SS. Let us know what you decide. |

I have both watches. If I could only have one it would be 116519LN. Easy choice for me.

I’d stick with the 500 all day.
I just don’t get the oysterflex appeal. If I’m going PM, then I’m going all in which has to also come with a bracelet |

As much as I love the 519, I can't sacrifice a 500 for it. Ideally buy both, if not then I suggest selling the YM to fund the 519

I have had the SS version for a bit now and just picked up the WG OF a week or two ago and I honestly can’t decide which is my favorite. I LOVE the OF for its heft, the look of the WG, the steel dial and the oysterflex bracelet. Having said that there is still something about a Daytona on a bracelet that I wouldn’t want to lose. While they are the same, they are very different and I love both equally I think.

I am in the camp which prefers PM to be fully PM, bracelet as well as case. I just can't grasp the OF on a PM case. Just my 2 cents.

Sorry, I do not recommend trading the 116500. Would let the 116655 go first to fund it. That is just me though, the 116519 is stunning, but I prefer having the SS on bracelet, and having a spare Oysterflex to wear here and there.

I for one sold the 116655 recently to fund the 519. 116655 is more feminine. 519 is perfect

I'd go for the OF, some here won't wear PM without a bracelet but if you are not one of these guys then its really a no brainer.

In the long term, 116500 > 116519 and it won't be that close.

If you bought the 500 at retail I think this is a total no-brainer. The 519 is superior in just about every conceivable fashion.

The ss will be a true classic and always hard to get piece. I also prefer the metal band. Now given the 500 has hit 28k on our trusted seller site id prob choose the wg as they are the same price almost but then again the ss may continue to rise and may be better in the long run.

I would add that to the 500. I have both 500s and I am still seriously considering the 519.

This. I would not move a white D500 for a watch on oysterflex. Especially when you already have another watch on oysterflex. Two watches on oysterflex, no way. Move the D500 for a full PM on bracelet, probably, but not flex when you already have one. I am not an oysterflex hater by any means, but I would not do this trade. |

I am fortunate to own both. 519 for me although I wouldn’t sell the 500 in order to buy it.
My better half who has no interest in Rolex or watches adores the 519. |

Extremely tough call. Dollar for dollar it makes sense to do the swap.
Watch for watch, putting metals aside, I would tend to lean towards the SS. The SS is "the Daytona." All other metals/combination are just variations of the true watch. In this crazy market, it's hard to put aside price and the noise around. Go with "the SS Daytona." I would only choose the PM version to switch things up and for the sake of enjoying a PM watch. |

I like this idea a lot. I would not trade my white 500 to fund the 519. I'd rather have both (SS on bracelet and PM on OF) at the expense of the RG YM. If you get rid of the 500 you're going to be left with two PM watches both on OF. I'd rather have a SS on bracelet and PM on OF -- especially when both are absolutely stunning references.
