Rolex 1680 I just purchased
I just picked up this 1680 white sub with a 5 million serial. Everything looks good on it and from what I can tell online looks like a MK1 dial. The crystal has been replaced and looks to be a service insert. Any thoughts on this one? I'm considering sending to LAWW to have the case cleaned up and bevels redone (though the lug width looks to be pretty good). Any thoughts on this one?

I love my 16750 they re-cut, but I don’t wear it as care free as I do my submariner with a nice worn case. I had them leave the sides as is. They call it a vintage restore I think.
It’s your watch, do what you want. Once you recut it, you can’t go back so think it through. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Thanks! Yeah I’ve wanted the 1680 for awhile with their ridiculous crystal. I have a 16800 as well, so a bit of overlap but I’ll likely keep it as the travel watch. I’m on the fence about restoration as it’s in really good shape for 43 years old (and still looks the part of a vintage piece). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'd leave it exactly as it is, if it were mine. |

Very nice.
Really good detailing (I'm averse to the term "recutting") can make an average watch awesome without much metal loss. Those LA guys do great work. |
