16570 date change

I'm currently in the market for a 16570 explorer II.
I just inspected a nice example from 2010 at a good price.
Upon manually checking the date change using the time setting crown position, it advances smoothly at midnight.
When I manually use the hour hand GMT function at the crown middle position, the date will kind of stutter at about 2am before advancing.
Is this a problem in the making or a normal operation with the 3186 movement?

Thanks.

What time are the hands set to before you start adjusting the independent hour hand?

I went a full 24 hour rotation,
I did this a number of times with the same result.

Thanks

I can’t give a 100% definitive report without physically seeing the watch, but on the facts alone (10 year old watch, exhibiting unintended behaviour which can be repeated), the solution is the watch is in need of a service.

Thank you for your thoughts.
Adding the cost of a service makes the great price not so great!
