During a dispute, ponycar350 made threats against me and my family

Jared made facebook posts suggesting that his associates visit me and my family and provided my personal details to his associates. Unacceptable way to react to a business transaction.

I’ve dealt with Jared a few times in the past without issue. Interested to see what comes of this, as more facts come to light.

I too bought about 6 years ago and I have to say the OP's post is concerning but I'm sure there's more to this...

Hope everyone sorts it out.

Prove it, and the results of the pressure test, +12sec daily, and the poorly polished clasp? Do that and more people will understand. If you can't, wither back off into the woods....

I don’t think the OP has to prove it in writing to the TRF community. His original post was well written with plenty of problems with the watch, clearly not in “excellent condition”.

I agree but we have yet to see any pics of said watch in
the condition he states he received it from Jared...

Everyone's understanding may not be the same when it
comes to excellent condition...
Maybe the OP thought it was in pristine condition like new
when in fact that wasn't the case...

He (OP) came here huffing and puffing with only words and nothing
substantial or concrete to back up his accusations. Just sayin'...

Well he tried to prove it to Paypal, and his case was denied. How do you know it wasn't in "excellent condition"? Have you seen pictures of it? Did you see the report from the Jeweler where it failed the pressure test, and was running +12 sec fast? No, because no one did, except for paypal and they sided with the seller. How many times do you see paypal side with the seller, not many. My point is unless there is visual proof, how can we assume he is right or wrong? He started the thread, if he wants to get backers for his side, he needs to show proof the watch is what he says it is.

I don't know PonyCar and I don't know the OP but PonyCar has been on TRF for a long time and this is the first I've read anything negative about him.

As for "excellent" condition, this is probably the most subjective term to define a watch's condition. IMO the responsibility lies upon the buyer to verify and accept. Mint or unworn are far more definitive.

There’s a problem with new buyers not acquainting themselves of the ins/outs of buying in an open, free market. And then acquitting themselves as if TRF is a nannystate where whining is rewarded.

There’s a problem with experienced sellers posting listings with the barest details and one or two ill-made photo(s). And then expecting poorly informed buyers to evaluate properly.

And when these two problems come together, we get fissionable mass.

Just my 2¢...

Both parties should hopefully learn from this.

Except for the fact that he posted this August 22nd... long before his "well written" complaint:

JUST TO CLEAR THE AIR I NEVER MADE ANY THREATS AGAINST ANYONE OR THEIR FAMILY WHY WOULD I DO THAT? I DO NOT KNOW THE MENTAL STABILITY OF ORIN McCormick HOWEVER I SUSPECT DISPUTING ANY TYPE OF PURCHASE 6 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE WHEN NO PROOF OF ANYTHING HAS BEEN SENT IN WRITING TO THE SELLER OR CONTACTING THE SELLER FIRST SUGGESTS SOME TYPE OF BRAIN DAMAGE. OH YEAH THE KICKER....THE WATCH IS UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. GOOD LUCK WITH ALL THIS NONSENSE and stop wasting everyone's time. I am available anytime to talk 609-560-1392.

I doubt that. Just on face value - you have 32 posts; ponycar has been around for a dozen years with exponentially more activity than you. Throwing shade like that in public is not how things work here. Might want to rethink your position.
