Just shipped my Rolex and told the rep to insure it $12,000. As I was walking out I checked to see my tracking number but noticed the insured value had $1,200.00 so I had to do a double take and sure enough wrong amount. Had to go back and have her fix it.

Hopefully it was an honest mistake but glad to have checked
Two things:
1. I would have immediately wondered why the cost for the registered package was so low.
2. I sent the IRS a registered #10 envelope with an amended return. It got lost and I was basically told tough luck. It cost about $9. After about a month I sent the same amended return via FedEx Express for $26 and it made it fine.

There is no other close comparison by FedEx or UPS.
You wouldn’t believe high high $$$$ items get sent this way. A $100k Rolex is chump change in comparison.

The Hope diamond was shipped via USPS Registered Mail. 2nd party insurance is also added. Registered Mail is the approved method for these 2nd party insurance policies.

USPS Registered service is very secure as underatand is transported on a vault and there is a chain of custody from point to point. However it is very slow, so some people dislike it because of that.

I use USPS Mail a lot and insure with ParcelPro, no issues whatsoever.

Been trading here for over a decade. I would advise NOT shipping with USPS even with registered mail. Why would you want to add that many days when shipping with registered mail? Not the ideal carrier to ship what we sell here.

Fedex and Parcel Pro for the win!

Just my experience.
Were any of the lost ones Registered mail?

I always use USPS registered mail for shipping my watches. Lock and key and chain of custody all the way, and if something happens the investigation is done by a postal inspector and they're a federal law enforcement agency.

It is, however, not for things that are time critical. I shipped a watch to RSC Dallas and it took 8 days. Also, the tracking stopped updating after it arrived at the Dallas postal facility and I had to call the RSC and confirm it did indeed arrive. I could have driven it myself in about 6 hours, and may very well do that next time, if the world ever gets back to normal.

USPS, Registered and Insured is the cheapest way, yes, it is also the slowest way.
I have shipped over a dozen packages Registered mail, everyone got to the destination and properly signed for. Yes, it took extra days. I included USPS Registered mail in all my sales. If the buyer does not like it, he/she can send me their own label and take the risk.

To the bashers of USPS Registered mail.....the RSC is the only acceptable way to send them a watch. If you send it FEDEX or UPS they can reject the shipment.

Disagree here...I've had horror stories with Fedex and I only trust Registered USPS.

My ex worked for USPS. Insurance is put to the test when you make a claim. USPS can put you through the ringer and may deny your claim. You must have proof of value to satisfy USPS and they are vague about what is acceptable. For instance, appraisal for home owners insurance may not be accepted (it's often different than what you paid), a receipt for what you paid two years ago may be too old. It stinks.

ALWAYS arguments about shipping.
What Pablo said in post #11 a bout USPS Registered.
Most secure, under lock and key at all times, continual tracking.
(And the points of view continue . . .)

It has been a while and I've only used the RSC on rare occasions. I recall needing warranty work done on my 16610LV back when I had that about 10 years ago and I called the Dallas RSC. They sent me a packing box and specifically stated that I should ONLY use USPS Registered Mail and there's a special way to tape up the box with brown adhesive packing tape and so forth. It was the longest and most tortured ~10 days from VA to TX and back, though it worked pretty well!

I will say that I buy regularly from trusted sellers that use FedEx overnight and there's something very satisfying to close a watch deal at 4 pm and have the watch in hand by 10:30 am the next day. I also just did this rodeo with LAWW on the sending and receiving end via FedEx overnight. Crazy, crazy speed of shipment to have a watch leave CA at 4 pm and arrive in VA before noon the next day.

I'd go Fedex overnight personally. I've done registered mail in the past and didn't have any issues of note however I'd still stick with the former.
