How much money do the Mods make from us?

How much money do you guys think these mods on the forum makes from us through these 'donations'? I just donated last week and now I'm hearing I will have to donate again in a couple days if I want to keep my "Pledge" badge.

They are unpaid volunteers.

The pledges are annual - the funds go into keeping the forum running.

Moderators are not paid, simple as that. We “make” nothing from your donations.

At least $1Billion/mod. A pledge is only $30. No one made the rules with the hopes of someday defrauding you the price 2-3 martinis.

I never gave this any thought. I am thinking they are dedicated watch collectors who do the work out of passion and commitment. Volunteers. Then again, I imagine it must be an immense work load. Either way, glad to have them.

Your pledge membership works on a calendar year.

There are about 1200 pledge members here. No one is getting rich off this thing

Correct on both counts, it is an immense workload and unpaid.

I messaged Steve the ‘facilitator’ about donating money, only to keep my Pledge badge for only a week seemed a little unfair since he will be resetting it in a couple days. I was given quite an unexpected and rude response from him asking me if I knew what a donation meant? I paid my own money to help support this forum and this is the type of response I get? Ridiculous.

Mods work for free, using up a lot of their free time to keep this place honest, pleasant and civil.

It's been so long since I've been to a bar I've lost all concept of pricing!

You’re right. A pledge is only $30.... but that $30 adds up pretty fast when you have thousands of members....

Server costs add up pretty fast when you have thousands of members posting high-res photos.

All you had to do was wait. I specifically waited until the 2021 pledge became available to donate since it was close to the end of the year. It wasn’t hard to figure out.

First time I’ve ever seen someone make a donation...and then turn around and complain about it.

That's fine. I could have waited. No big deal, just a badge. But the rude and disrespectful response from Moderator is what prompted me to create this post

It was neither rude nor disrespectful.

You were asked a question...

You aren’t buying anything.

The moderator you speak of owns the forum, it is because of him that this forum even exists. What’s rude and disrespectful is you posting a screenshot of a PRIVATE message.

That's odd, because in your original post it was all about the money.

Asking someone if they know what a donation means doesn't come off as rude?

Are you dumb?

Look, I asked you a question. It doesn't come off as rude because it is just a question is all (in your logic)

Uh oh, I don't see this ending well. As has been explained to you, the pledge period is on the calendar year. You are not the first person to miss that when making a pledge late in the year. Or the first to complain about it later. But you are just digging a hole for yourself here. Best to move on.

It's not everyday I can witness a ban on the exact moment it happens. It's sad and nice at the same time.
