Incoming!! Pilot Vanishing point red birch

Picked this up directly from Japan. It’s marketed as a red bamboo capless Pilot. We might know it better as a vanishing point. It’s made of an infused, stained red birch. I got a great deal on one and I absolutely love it! I can’t believe I waited so long to pick one up! I have a Visconti Pininfarina carbon graphite capless but it would perpetually dry out. The Pilot seems like a much better designed mechanism. I’m even using a Pilot cartridge. Not even needing to prime the feed short of a dip in Pilot ama-iro to start the feed. It’s one of those pens I don’t want to put down. I’m even paying bills early just to write with it! Good pen day! Another thing to note is that Pilot even made a point of aligning the wood grain between the two halves of the pen as best as they could. Very good!

I was so excited when I saw your reply. I knew you had something good to say! Cheers good Sir! I’m unbelievably pleased with the pen!

Thanks Guys! As I understand it, the first gen pens were faceted. Putting it on my list once the job status gets better

Yes, they were slightly slimmer and faceted. The expert for all things related to the Vanishing Point is Carmen Rivera. But the Faceted models were not the first. The design actually goes back to the 1960s and wasn't really sold in the US until a couple decades later.
