At 7 days old I hand to lend him a supporting finger. But he did hold on to it quite impressively

Becuse 25% of the time it's being serviced at PP.

For me....

Seeing the baby handle that watch and slobber all over it....

How utterly worthless does that watch seem when looking at your child?

it literally becomes just a watch...

I wonder if the grey market is packed with owners thinking the same as you! The Same watches seem to sit on Chrono24 for an age and give the impression that the various models sell for huge prices. How real is that market? See eg 5212A ..

Apologies if I derailed the thread.

But really, I like and appreciate watches, but I love my son more than life itself. No money, watch or other material good is comparable, or nearly as good, as hearing his footsteps approach and his little voice going “DADDY!” as I come home.

Of course it is lol

You’re asking the wrong chap I was just trying to be funny. I have sold 4 pateks. 2 for a substantial loss, 1 dead even and 1 was a win.

If you want my opinion on the 5212 market I’d say it’s not going to hold. Nice watch but nothing unique or particularly interesting. At msrp a fine choice but paying above would be silly to me.

That's great! Thank you for sharing.

Hoping to get my first PP in the near future. I have my share of Rolex and a few other brands but the aura of the PP is like none other. Would love to be able to pass a PP down to my son - my daughter would need a Rolex though she's tough and needs something to take a beating.

Oddly enough I didn't start to lust after a PP until after my son was born.

Even with the Pandemic, your Patek gets to make a several month service trip to beautiful Switzerland.

Because you'll never actually get a Patek from an AD.

I agree about the 5212. I loved the images but when I actually saw one I was disappointed. The images, even in the catalogue and on line, show a larger watch face than the comparably sized ones. In the metal it is a great disappointment. No wonder Chrono24 is inundated with them.

There is also the AD response to the demand - snobby and superior some of them.
‘You need to be a regular Patek buyer..’,
‘If you buy a different one (which you don’t want ) first then perhaps you can be added to the list.”
‘ There is a list but we can’t tell you how many people are on it”
“ The list is not a waiting list but there is a wish list”
“ Do favoured customers rise to the top? Patek collectors are usually offered new models before they are marketed so there is no question of jumping the queue as there isn’t one.”
“We only get one a year”

“SO you don’t in fact sell Patek’s you just show prospective buyers the catalogue?”
“ We can give you a catalogue.... I can ask if you would be suitable to be added to the list. What else have you bought from us? YOUR WIFE MIGHT LIKE THESE EARINGS....”

I noted you have a 5320G and despite purchasing that did your AD mention this to you?
