Nope. I’ve owned a Nautilus and it just didn’t do much for me, sold it within a year.
At those prices, I personally would aim for a Platona as I find them one of the best looking watches of any brand. |

The steel 5711 will wear much different from the PM Daytona so only do the trade if you are sure you like it to avoid regret. That said for current market this is not a trade in your favour because 5711 price seems to have been in a stalemate for some time now.

Crazy world where you have to pay $10k to go from gold to steel. The money checks out at market values, but this gets a hell no from me.

5711 is more special. Despite the comments it’s plain Jane and entry level... it’s like a loaded s class vs an “entry” rolls Royce. The Daytona’s an awesome watch but pp is on another level

I personally would not do it. I would sell the Daytona if you don’t wear or want it and buy something else. But to drop an extra $20k on top, doesn’t make sense

I’m with this guy! Especially if it’s less than two years old. The Nautilus is a grail among grails with super tight supply. And I love that you are leveraging equity in your Daytona to acquire. And I am a huge Daytona fan. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm amazed that people would talk about PM rolex vs SS Patek like the material matters. Gold vs Steel is irrelevant. A SS nautilus (or Rolex) is worth more in many cases than a gold one or two tone. The 5711 blue face SS nautilus is a much more desirable and valuable piece in my opinion than most people on a Rolex forum may appreciate. Go to a Patek forum and they will have a different view of this trade. I have both a Nautilus and 2 Daytonas so I'm pretty neutral but my Nautilus is a 3800 and I prefer the Daytonas. If I had a 5711 though it would probably see more wrist time! If I had a choice of picking up a John Mayer Daytona or a 5711 blue it would not even be close even if there was a 10K difference in price..

Where were all these people talking about how the Nautlius is a grail, it’s amazing, it’s totally worth $30k when they were sitting in cases 4 years ago and ADs practically forcing them on you? Oh and that’s paired with most on forums saying how ‘underwhelming’ they are for a sports watch and even a Royal Oak has a bit more presence than the Nautilus.
Me thinks it’s all these things *solely* because the hype |

IF the PP5711 sings to you and you dont wear the Daytona anymore, then I would do the trade.

I would consider it if I’m not in love with the Daytona. The Patek is a beauty as well, so no wrong choice.

I think you'll be happy at first and then regret it when they discontinue the Daytona.

I would not. In today’s market it’s not a bad deal. But in a vacuum, I don’t think I would pay anything near 50 for a steel nautilus.
Why don’t you wear the Daytona? What makes you think you would wear the Nautilus? |

If you’re not wearing it then I see no reason not to trade.

Hell No. Especially if your ADDING $10k.
Have you tried on the 5711 in SS? Feels flimsy as anything and its not a watch that I would consider at the current asking prices - no way in earth. |

Do it. The 5711 blue is as iconic as it gets. WB has recently listed a preowned piece for 81,950. If you want a sport watch from the top of the holy trinity, this is the one.

As others have stated, the nautilus is trading for 60k. That watch is not gonna go down in price. The CEO of Patek has stated many times that he will never increase the production of this watch. You will never get this watch brand new unless you spend $200,000 at a Patek dealer, and are patient and lucky.
The Nautilis is my absolute favorite watch. It is an absolute dream on the wrist. It has a large face but a thin profile. It really feels awesome. On the other hand, the Daytona is my second favorite watch. |

The deal is fair from a market valuation standpoint.
