New Daytona is now Supercase

Looks like Rolex is finally transitioning the Daytona to the supercase look, quite apparent from the side profile images. Still at 40mm, but I'd assume it's going to wear larger than the 116500's do.

Favorite thing about the Daytona was always its distinctive case design that was not available in any other sport models.

Oh well.

Really hoping someone gets a caliper on this thing and sees if the diameter increased.

Yes I totally agree. Exactly why I forced myself to pickup the 116500 last year, I was worried this would happen to the new models. As someone with a small 6.5 inch wrist it's quite important.

Gutted.

All I can say, is congratulations to all those that managed to pick up the 11 series Daytona now cemented as the “Daytona Perfection” years.

I was hoping for this to happen, ie. true 40mm case instead of the faux (38mm) size.

Me too. I've stuck my name down with my AD for a 126500LN black dial on the assumption it IS a genuine 40mm now. Fingers crossed.

Would not be surprised if it is only .5-1mm larger. Thing is the PM models always wore a tad bigger. This should make it wear nicely.

The wider bracelet turns me off a bit though.

Love the new look, and Rolex smartly trying to keep the ceramic bezel a bit more protected makes sense in durability too.

it is not a super case. It is basically the PM case which is perfect

It does look weird in pics, but I think just because we're all so used to seeing the full ceramic bezel. I do like that fact that it's a little bit more of a throw back to the vintage Daytona's with bezel inserts surrounded by metal.

Are you sure because from the side view the case appears sharp on the edge and blocky.

Wider bracelet?

Where are you seeing that?

Its a render. Its not the real thing.

Go to Rolex.com. Look at the 40mm Day Date. Looks like a brand new case. Its not. Its a bad render.

Damn. Quite sad news if the Daytona now becomes as large as the modern GMTs.

Maybe not as large as those honkers, but certainly appears beefier than the 116500?

This will be interesting Mike. The case does look like other Professional Series Models, i.e GMT2 so it could be a true 40 (or close) and not 38.5 like the prior version.

If the case turns out to be 40 or close, then perhaps the old version will become know as "Baby Daytonas"

It is. its symmetrical.

Very much like the chunkier cases of the PT/WG/RG/Oysterflex 11 series.

All of which are still very elegant, refined cases and nothing like the supercases

I agree! The rim around the outer edge of the ceramic bezel is a dramatic improvement in appearance. IMO, it looked odd and unfinished before without any defined edge to the bezel.

Sometimes it takes something new to make the old one that much better.

I’m with you on this. I didn’t think there was much wrong with the previous Daytona but the new looks nicer in my opinion.
