Need Help Identifying
Picked this up because I couldn't recall having ever seen one and I liked how "vintage" it looks. It may be because it was water logged, but I seem to like it. The case I obviously added on myself. It's a generic case.
The movement and dial I bought. It's a 15J Ruby Tudor. I've never seen one before only a 17J. The dial and hands sort of align with other I've seen but not entirely. Was hoping someone here could help me with figuring out what this dial and movement are from. Thank you! |

I've seen a 15 rubies Rolex (usually where Rolex circles the gear) but never a Tudor.

Forgot to mention there is a blue hue to the metal in the hands also. Quite pronounced in the right angle and lighting.

That movement does not look correct to me. It looks like the movement you see in the fake Tudor watches coming out of India sold all over eBay.

This still looks wrong? I have spent a decent amount restoring this movement and it would suck if fake. Also another very good reason for why I joined here. I should stick to Rolex. It was my first ever Tudor purchase and vintage Tudor at that. I know my Nardins and Blancpains but not these. Now I know why I never saw one like it before I guess.

It looks like a basic AS1187 movement that someone inscribed Tudor on. Its what ive seen come out of India. The movement is a workhorse but I dont think it started life from Tudor. That movement was used in many, many brand watches. You can pick up up the movements for about $10

I don't believe it to be real at all, and it looks like a Tudor inscription was added afterwards and poorly at that. The R is most telling. Ask yourself what would make that wear funny, or cause the stamping to be less than perfect. Even Rolex made watches from the 20s that I have, have perfect stamping marks on the inside of the case. Considering what you paid I think it was a cheap lesson but I'd wear it as I think it's cool as well, but I'm really big and old vintage stuff

Well I filed a dispute with eBay and pulled my sale. Means now I'm out all the repair work and fitting to a new case charges. Lesson learned. Glad I found this place.

Could have been a lot worse, I know that is no consolation, but just read some horror stories on here where people have been duped out of thousands by scumbag scammers.
