Sky Dweller loose crown stem? Normal?
I just bought a blue Sky Dweller from a reputable gray dealer with store today in my local area. When I got home and trying to play around the functions, I realized the crown is loose and this doesn’t happen to my submariner date or Daytona. I’m not sure is this normal in sky dweller as this is my first sky dweller, is there any sky dweller owner can help to confirm this? I’ve attached a video link in this post. TIA !

I believe the stem of the winder is shorter and it interacts with a complex mechanism that involves the bezel as well. There are some pictures out there of the mechanism but not great views.
So I don't think it's like a 3235 where a long stem goes straight into the movement, it's shorter and can rock about on the seal/bushing more. Just as an aside did you also notice does the date change have a more pronounced click than a regular movement? What did the dealer say by the way, or did you think you'd get a more honest answer here? :) |

I feel this is a completely different rolex that I own. The winding, the “date clicks”, like you mention, also I notice the second ticking is louder than my sub, daytona, DJ.
I did not ask the dealer yet, hopefully I may get some answer here. Somehow I feel this is not solid enough and feels fragile ;( Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I think it’s because it really is very different.
To be fair I think Rolex have done their homework on this and it has been around a few years now. If it was a more ‘boutique’ maker you’d be using a toothpick to change the date and mashing the gears if you did it at certain times of the day or night. The Sky D is pretty unfussy for such a complex piece. It’s not a DSSD though. |

Your SkyDweller has twin lock vs your other watches trip lock. So it will feel a bit different but your video shows a symptom that I’ve never seen in a functioning twin lock.
I’d guess a bad o-ring (or worse, missing). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Hmm, the one I checked out was exactly like that:
Compared with 'usual' 3235-style: winder stem had more movement, date change proniunced click and more resistance, escapement tick more audible. I watched a Watchbox video and the 'click' of the date change is very noticeable. OP, be interesting to see what RSC say. |

I just asked the dealer where I bought the watch from and he show me his other sky D also the same as mine and telling me it is completely normal. Attached video link of the one he sent me.
https://streamable.com/fthsn0 For better assurance, guess I should go RSC to verify this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Mine doesn't show anything like that. That doesn't look good to me, either. (Just my watch and my cents.)

On both my Sky Dwellers the crown comes out a long way and has some play in it. But not much. It doesn't feel like any other Rolex movement (that I know of) when adjusting, setting, hacking.
If in doubt it never hurts to have it checked. If the crown isn't flopping about my guess (guess being the operative word) is that you're OK. |

My Sky Dweller winding crown also feels loose, as your’s is in your vids.
Has never been a problem. I think that I must’ve forgotten about it, being an annual calendar, since We don’t need to adjust the date. |

a little wiggle is normal what you have is excessive. Some ADs have in house service if you are out of warranty that might be a quicker and less expensive route to go. I would contact the people that sold it to you first.

Sky Dweller loose crown? Normal?
Update : RSC had confirmed this is completely normal for Sky Dweller. They said it happens to all Sky dweller depending how I wiggle on the stem. Advise me not to wiggle it too much Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thanks man. Appreciate the input.
P/S: share a story with you guys, yesterday I posted this issue with the video on one of the Rolex owner Facebook group, my post and I were being removed and the group blocked me after about 20 comments. When I PM admin and asked why am I being removed and I did not violate any rules. They said I were posting fake and that is not allow. Well, I understand posting replica is not allow in genuine rolex owner group but mine is genuine piece and I was asking a question with video, not flashing my Rolex or whatsoever. Haha.. so-called real Rolex owner group. Just for laugh. Cheers everyone ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Genuine watches being called fakes is not unheard of here also. Happily, our Mods can tell the difference. The conduct of the FB group Admin reduces the value of owner support to essentially nothing, but that's FB for you. Nothing new.
