For me nothing ruins a watch like a badly done date window.

The Patek Aquanaut is a prime example of this. Particularly the 5066. Same goes for the AP Code thing (and in fact, anything with a 4pm date window).

I’m not a huge fan of that either, but I’ll take that so long as legibility is not sacrificed. I owned both and can tell you the Daytona and some other chronos I owned the legibility when actually used to time things other than steaks were useless.

You are so right; that date window looks like a poor afterthought. What was PP thinking?

I need a date window.
I need hands with lume.
I need legibility.

NO markers or sub-dials for power reserve. Chronograph sub-dials are fine if the face is large enough for them to be usable.

In a Rolex, no date bothers me except in a Daytona.

It's funny. My two nice watches have Roman numerals and snowflake hands. I, too, hated them at first, but I'm now so glad I went with them. They're an acquired taste. I've found that I like watches with a little bit of controversy. In the end, I'm glad I went with these watches -- even though I would have hated them at first. I think they are more interesting than what people usually get.

That is indeed hideous. And on a Patek Philippe?? If anybody should know better it's PP. Glad they sorted out that egregious error.

Insufficient markers on a dial.

Another vote for diamonds being a dial's worst friend.

I don’t like a border around a date window. It makes it more noticeable and therefore distracting to me.

This!!

I call them ‘holesaw’ dials.

Take a nice dial and just dig a hole for a sub dial.

Power reserve for me. If I’ve not worn a watch for a day or two, I’ll give it a quick wind, don’t need to be reminded...

Most things I don't like are already mentioned in this topic.

I like the Sky Dweller very much but I don't like the fact that the 24H ring is partly covered by the cyclops and that's a dealbreaker for me.

I also can't think of a reason why Rolex did that.

Cathedral hands, like in most Monblanc watches and in the Seiko Alpinist. I really hate them.

I used not to like the snowflake hands too but I simply wanted the Pelagos too much to be stopped by that. I'm not saying that now I love them; what I can say that I don't hate them anymore.

Different strokes for different folks - I love this dial, the interrupted numerals are a clever feature, the allow the balanced placement of the subdials.
The thin bezel, the uncluttered dial, it's so discreet, highly legible, just a great watch, IMHO.

Oh, I forgot the other thing that I absolutely despise in a watch: a date window too close to the inner part of the dial, symptom of a small caliber installed in an uselessly oversize case.

Picture taken from the web: AP15400

vs. AP15500
