I'm guessing that if I had an extra jewelry rider on my homeowner's policy, it would have been possible (after the deductible). I don't have that on my watches, but we do have it on my wife's diamond rings.

PM me, I may be able to provide a referral or two (need to call the tomorrow). Very few are working right now in california due to the stay at home order. Another big challenge is finding someone who can also source a crystal for the watch.

Jewelers Mutual will, they even cover if you lose the watch and don't know where it is.

Yeah -- good idea. But I talked to Beau there, and he said they're not doing drop-off or pick-up, I have to ship to them.

The place in Mission Viejo doesn't have the crystal in stock, and since Rolex is closed, it's unlikely they can get one (but he's checking with one person).

Feel your pain, here my 16610 after hitting the metal edge of my floor standing vault:

They may recommend / enforce a movement service to make sure there are no crystal particules on the movement which could have entered through the dial openings. Anyway LA Watchworks should be able to take care of it nicely. In my case sent it to Rikki (Time Care) and it came back looking like new!

As people in this thread predicted, it needed a full service because of the possibility of fragments working their way into the movement. So $800 for that, which included a new mainspring, plus $300 for the crystal.

Hefty price tag for a split-second of inattention.....

I did something similar to my Explorer2 16570, sent it into RSC to be fixed they made it like new again.....you’ve done the right thing, to hack(stop) the movement and prevent further damage. Rolex ain’t open at the moment so probably worth using one of the places others have recommended in your thread.....even if you left it till Rolex open again, it’ll get fixed and will be good as new again....mine did and so will yours.
