Watches or swimming pool?
All this time at home has me thinking about cashing in on my watches and put in a luxurious swimming pool!
Anyone else have this idea? Lol |

Well your not the only one.
In Australia there has been an explosion in sales from DIY hardware stores and home renovations during this lockdown. |

Not only is this true, but it still needs mowing.

Realistically, how often would you use your pool? Vs how often do you wear your watches.
Consider the maintenance and running cost of a pool vs your watches. If value is a factor, also consider the value a pool will add to the house vs the value of your watches. |

First, there is cost to put it in. Depending on the size and complexity, it is about $20-50k. Then there is the maintenance — From the monthly chemicals and cleaning to all the overprice hardware. A pool vacuum (sweep) is about $700. Let’s not forget the heating of the pool once the weather cools down. Solar heating for the pool is about $3-4K to install and only extends the usability by a 2-3 months. But some people love having them! |

Watches or swimming pool?
How many watches do you have and would you need to cash them all in? Is there sentimental value behind them at all...we need some more info.

If you can sell now and get what you need,go for it! My feelings are it's a buyers market now.

Our pool costs a fortune in regular maintenance and the yearly *thing* that goes wrong- pump thing shits itself, solar heating breaks, pipe leaks, valve leaks, chlorinator, pump thing again. And it gets used a dozen times a year if we’re lucky. Wife loves it, of course, so it’s going nowhere...

Watches or swimming pool?
If you have a large family or young children a pool will pay for itself over and over. Maintenance isn’t terrible if you’re the DIY type and you don’t need anything too fancy and IMO something basic will give you lots of enjoyment and maybe if you keep the cost down you can have both.
If not, I vote pool - The key is to let it be a pool party every chance you get. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'd avoid the maintenance, keep traveling to different resorts with pools, epic hot tubs, or the beach, and enjoy making major memories with my watches in said locations.

Here in Australia - there are loads of spots up north of the country you can swim all-year round. Adds value to owning a pool.
Even here in Sydney you can swim from September through till April (give or take a few weeks either side). But we have the city beaches - like Bondi - which are world-class. Thinking about it... the remaining months of the year outside of the warmer months would be considered suitable swimming temperatures for those from Northern Europe! |

Going for the watches will always be my option can’t afford to think of swimming pools with the Convid-19 pandemic.
