Help please!!1969 Rolex gmt master 1675

This is my first post on here and i just need some help! Could have a great opportunity or a flat out shitty one. I am in Minneapolis and walking around the mall of America and I saw a GMT in the window of a jeweler called heritage estate jewelry. I walked in and the lady was very nice and showed me the watch. It is a 1969 1675 with an original folded link bracelet. Everything works. She said they have a certified Rolex watch tech on staff (doubt it) but that they authenticate before the sell. but I’m very skeptical on the dial. I’m pretty sure it is not original or authentic and the hands seem too new for the age of the watch as well.

Hard to see but the case is engraved with 1675 and the serial number is a los 2M which matches the year.

Thanks again!

Much better pics needed but it looks like it has a service dial fitted.

Looks like a SWISS MADE luminova service dial.

From the pictures it looks as if you have already bought the watch as they look like they were taken at your house. How much did you pay? Looks like service parts to me but need closer and clearer pictures.

Because of the reputation of the store and the location at the biggest mall in America and the fact I’m flying back home to AZ now i took the leap and I paid $6000 for it. I suspected service parts as it is polished. But nonetheless I think it’s a good find that I can add to my collection.

Thank you for the help!!

I paid $6000 for it. I suspected service because of the polishing on the band. But because of where I found it in a reputable dealer at the mall of America I would say it’s a fair deal. But the dial wasn’t recognizable. They do authenticate by opening the watch there at the store.

Can’t help too much beyond the comments thus far. Would need much sharper pictures.

What did they tell you about the engraving on the caseback? I always like to hear how a seller came to have the watch.

The thing about buying from such shops is you still have the risk of it being a stolen watch.

Pawn shops sometimes get a bad rap but they at least check police files for theft and give the pawn squads time to check NCIS databases.

Thanks for the response!

They didn’t have too much of a story about the engraving but I find it pretty cool. Again, because of the reputation of the store and it’s location, to sell stolen merchandise could really affect their business. They have 5 star rating and a lot of valuable goods.

Now that you mention it, even with the blurry photo, it does look pretty bad. Hopefully the watch isn't fake.

Looks good, enjoy it!!

If the folded bracelet is in good condition, it may indicate that the watch has not been used and abused.

I think it has been relumed. Proper pictures will confirm. There’s a reason it was $6k.

Thanks again everyone I’m trying to post better photos but it won’t allow me to. I’m happy adding this one to the collection. Service parts and all. As long as movement is verified it’s a classy watch for occasional use and has the looks without the $20k price tag. Love watches for my personal use and not for reselling.

For me the dial isn't even a service one but a fake one, the plots are very small and the minute track is also too small...wrong insert too...even for $4/5k I would have never buy it...Can't you get your money back?

Set the watch in natural light, like on a table of window ledge. Hold your phone steady, if not braced, and used the 2x zoom for a dial photo. Don’t attempt a wrist shot, etc...

Unfortunately I have left the state of Minnesota haha. I will send in for authentication and let the jewelry store know they will be hearing from me if bad news comes up. They have a 5.0 rating out of 5. If they sold a fake watch they would not want to know. I’m ok with a dial I can replace with the correct one. But more worried about the guts

I’ll keep you all posted. Authentication takes anywhere from 2-4 weeks at my AD in AZ. Thanks again!

Dial is refinished or fake - doesn’t look service.
Would like to assume the insert has a blue back and not original.
I wouldn’t want to be caught with this piece in my collection, especially if it’s my first.

I have a 11613 sub 2009 and a random serial and a 216570 polar. Not my first. But crazy that such a well reviewed shop carries this. I’ll keep everyone posted on the saga. In the meantime it is what it is.

I agree with this comment! Based on the poor quality photos, my best guess would be the dial is refinished, the bezel insert is a service replacement as well as the hands being service replacements as well.

Place some better quality photos of the watch here and keep refrain from including your body parts in the photos - just the watch, no fingers, hands, arms, wrists or toes!

Dial is fake........to long markers at 3,6,9,12....
Both winding crown protectors differ > 0,5 mm in length.....and also in height (right one shorter and lower as left one / observation with picture enlarged to 400&)......even after severe polishing this can not be the result........I fear that the case is fake too....

Picture of a...5,3XX.XXX serial nr. 1978 GMT..
