Just curious, are you using precious metal springbars with these straps? I have the 5524G and the straps i order i need to have the quick release so that I can use the WG springbars that come with the watch

I was just using the steel ones that come with the straps- not sure if it makes a difference (seems sturdy to me) but maybe others can chime in.

There is no difference, but I prefer the quick release to avoid scratching the lugs. Safe better than sorry

Gold is softer than stainless steel. My concern is that it will damage the case. Am I just being too paranoid?

After you mentioned it, I did some searching and found a couple links on this. You might be right, better safe than sorry. I was able to remove the spring bars that are in the rubber straps and use the gold Patek ones

They are Barton rubber straps. Quite affordable at $20. (I know, putting a $20 strap on a Patek, but they have 21mm and the easy to change spring bars). I jus cut a slit into all of them so I will be using my Patek spring bars in them

Over time SS spring bars will open up the holes in the case. Best to use gold spring bars.

Kind of cool as a switch up although I think this watch looks best on leather. Any wrist shots?

Hello. May I learn how to buy this type of band--the one on top (I am not going to risk editing the pictures again)? While my Sub is being fixed I am wearing a leather band. I had forgotten the greasy mess I make when eating my weekly roast duck (I favor articles promoting the anti-cholesterol properties of duck fat). Now the band smells of duck oils and I dont know if I can wash it. I wash my Sub once a week using hydrogen peroxide to combat the grunge. The AD could not find the watch model number in the PP catalog and cannot risk ordering a band from measuring the lugs. I suggested it might be identical to the 5524, but they dont want to guess. They asked me to bring in the watch. When I pointed to my wrist they reminded me that I had been asking about PP. I liked it that even an AD doesnt know my watch is a PP. Stealth is good--at least to me it is.

Thank you!

Looks terrible in my opinion, why people put cheapskate straps on a Patek/Rolex/AP baffles me. Get some ideas from other members on this post and get one made, so many better options out there, if your not sure go direct with PP from AD.

From another thread I learned about ABP in Paris who offers a custom band in Cordura with its own brand SS deployant clasp. I will order that because Cordura is washable and that is useful in humid climate and after eating finger food. And the deployant safeguards against slight of hand theft that is practiced in many big cities.

I appreciate your opinion and wish that my PP AD were more adventurous. But the AD refused to order a band for my watch because the model does not appear in the PP catalog for accessory bands. I learned something about PP LEs.

Cordura is very reliable and versatile sort f like sailcloth. I think its a good option as long as it's good quality and preferably custom made for your Patek, ABP looks like a nice strap company. I imagine the brown would look great on the 5524R.

Thanks. Mine is a 5522A. Similar to a 5524R, but in steel not as good looking. In fact, it looks cheap. That's probably why the AD didn't recognize it as a PP.

Doesn't sound like a very competent AD, but yeah try the Cordura one, should look great in Brown or Black and maybe even a darker blue to match the hands.
