Which Submersible looks better? 683 or 1389
Am trying to decide which submersible fits/looks better on my wrists. What do people think?
683 42mm Or the 1389 47mm |

The 42mm looks better size-wise, I just wish that they had a 44mm modern option in the 1950 case.

The 1389 looks large in that the lugs appear to overhang your wrist by a lot FWIW.

The 683 appears to sit very nicely on your wrist. The 1389 looks to be a bit oversized for you from the pics.
However, if it's the 47mm which is screaming your name, rock it on your wrist and enjoy! |

Which Submersible looks better? 683 or 1389
The 683 looks much better on you, plus IMHO it’s nicer.
The 1389 looks a little large on you, but not ridiculous large as I’ve seen lots of guys!!! IMHO large watches on small wrists look awful..... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

On the mirror shot, the 1389 looks nice while 683 looks slightly smaller
Personally I prefer 1389 as the 683 have Richemont movt,I prefer in house movt with quickset hour than a movt with quickset date... |

I'll be the odd one out and say I prefer the 47 MM.
Submersibles look better "huge on the wrist" to me. But if we're applying "normal watch" guidelines, then the 42 MM looks better on your wrist. |

Always hard to tell from a couple of pictures, but if you like both equally, I’d go for the 683.

This is why I thought I would ask. Mirror shot the 1389 looks good but wrist shot it looks massive. 683 looks small on the mirror shot but good on the wrist shot. Why didn’t Panerai make this as a 44mm😔😔

I think the 1389 looks the best and in the Panerai world if you buy a 42mm watch get ready at resale or trade time. A Paneresti would tell you the 42mm lacks the DNA of the brand but I don't agree as the brand does exactly what it wants, when it wants. I think the point of Panerai is the size and "Panerai Look". I own the 1389 and can tell you it is a great watch and a lot of fun. There are a lot of brands out there that make great watches but if you want the Panerai then I would buy a Panerai that represents the brand. Just my thoughts. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

To me, the 683 is very close to being slightly too large for your wrist, but maybe just large enough. I would be debating whether the 683 looks too large and if I don't think so, i'd go for that. I have been in this situation and I have come to the conclusion that I cannot pull off any 47mm pam. They are just way too big on my nearly 7 inch wrists, even though I do love a lot of them.
A poster above said that panerai DNA runs stronger in 47mm versions, but unfortunately, the submersibles are only 47 or 42 now with the exception of maybe 1 44mm. I find the 42mm wear pretty close to the 44mm luminors, so I don't think it loses the DNA as much as say a luminor due or a 42mm luminor etc. |

I'm going against the flow here.
The mirror shots give a better view. Watches always look bigger photographed straight down on the wrist. In the mirror the 683 looks small and tall, the proportions are off. The 1389 looks spot on, and that'd be my choice. |

This is what I think when I look at the mirror shots that the 683 is a bit too small. I have quite big arms as I lift weights but I have small insertions at the wrists and ankles. I will have to try again with a T-shirt and see how it looks in comparison to the whole body rather then just the wrist. Also prefer the in-house movement instead of the Richemont movement.

Under 7 inch wrist can still wear 47mm panerais
Personally my wrist is around 6.5-6.75 inch and my daily is pam 375 Probably it helps that I’m not too thin too |

I'm looking more at the lugs and not the face. If the lugs exceed the wrist quite a bit, that's where I personally say it's too big. Does a 44mm panerai fit just right? if so, I wouldn't force a 47. However, as others are saying, it's personal preference and you have to love it at the end of the day.
Perhaps in this case, you're choosing between slightly too small or slightly too big. If you really want one of these two, then you have to decide which concession you are more comfortable with. Goodluck with the purchase! |

The close up wrist shot is not representative of how it looks to the world around you.
Look at the posts below re size and perspective, but in summary here are two pics of same watch on my wrist. I would say go 1389. https://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.p...ht=Perspective https://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.p...highlight=47mm https://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.p...highlight=47mm Sent from my moto g(7) power using Tapatalk |

1389 for sure! Don't let wrist shot pics fool you... I've taken some pictures that make it look like the 44mm lugs overhang my wrist but they don't.

1389 without a doubt.
It’s looks better on you, is titanium, in-house movement, Amagnetic, and pure DNA. With Panerai you are buying a big watch. I’ve been in the exact same dilemma as you a few weeks back. Have a small wrist so I went to try both on. Instantly the 1389 looked and felt way better. The salesperson who’s also a Paneristi agreed, that if you are after a Submersible, then you should definitely take the 47mm. Otherwise you would risk flipping a 42mm some months later for a 47mm. When placed side by side the 683 almost looks like a kids watch. The proportions and feel are just a little off because of the height, the narrow strap and the heavy steel weight. When I got home I noticed the same thing you are experiencing with the photos I had taken. The 683 looked like a better fit close up on the photos. This confused me. So I went back a week later, and when I held both watches again I immediately recognised how right the 1389 is! Took some full figure pictures and could see that the 683 didn’t stand a chance. |

Went back and tried the 47mm next to the 42mm. 47mm looks much better. What does everyone think.? It was the older dial so have to wait for the AD to order the new dial which should be in a few weeks. The 47mm had a scratch on the crystal and the bezel was marked. I pointed it out to the sales assistant who noticed it as well.

I love the way your are colour co-ordinated with the store :)
The 47mm works... IMO Congratulations on the decision and look forward to pics and happy thoughts on it once on your wrist. Sent from my moto g(7) power using Tapatalk |
