Help! Did I Buy A Fake 1675?
Dear Forum:
For many years I have enjoyed your posts and threads without having owned a Rolex. Now, I have finally bought what I believe is a great looking 1675. I received the watch last week and have taken it to one of the most reputable Rolex dealers around for adjusting the bracelet. Two watchmakers independently looked at the watch (not to assess it for authenticity) and both expressed their liking, not mentioning anything unusual. However, a couple of details make me question the watch’s authenticity: 1. The bezel is turning rather freely, feeling light and loose. I understand this can happen with time, but it just plays into my whole paranoia. 2. When viewed from the side, the crown guards look rather thin and angular. Perhaps this is due to past polishing? Now it’s up to the real expert. What kind of watch am I looking at here? Thanks to all who weigh in! imgur(dot)com/a/4kK1E3T |

The case looks phenomenal to me, definitely not polished. What year or serial number is it? It appears to have a long-E dial (Mk1), and I think that would be early for a black insert.

If you want a definitive opinion as to its legitimacy, you will need to post pictures of the reference numbers, caseback, and movement. . Your pictures show nothing that would lead to any conclusion. . It could be a new case (not necessarily legit) with intentional scarring, a redone case, or an exceptional case for a watch of this year based on the dial it has... . Also post more pics of the bracelet...Hmm |

Looks like a Submariner case based on the thin crown guards. The bezel also appears to be from a Submariner.
Below is a 1968 GMT.

It certainly looks strange in the crown guard area. Would be helpful to see the model and serial engravings if possible.

As requested, I uploaded a couple more photos with engravings. Any chance this thing is the real deal? Obviously, I'm biased toward one outcome, but your input is much appreciated!

From the photos so far, I see nothing that would lead me to believe it isn't the real deal. The problem with the rotating bezel is likely that the bezel click spring isn't engaging the bezel teeth; it should be an inexpensive easy fix even if the click spring needs to be replaced.
This is a photo of the bezel click spring installed in my GMT-Master II. Take it to a watchmaker who has a Rolex caseback opener and have him/her open the case for a close inspection of the movement

Ahh. You're probably right. A quick search for "rolex Ref 1675 click spring" resulted in hits for 16700, 16710, and 16718, but no 1675. Mea culpa.

Looks like someone has installed the wrong bezel on this one, insert is later too, case looks nice, any chance of a peek between the lugs? It wouldn't be a huge surprise if you have 1655 between the lugs. Its definitely not a Sub case.

I can't see the engraving photos, you need to take the end links off to show the engravings.

The links on the bracelet all appear to be the same thickness - which is not what a genuine Oyster bracelet looks like. All links having the same thickness is indicative of a fake bracelet.
Below is a genuine Oyster 93150.

Now I'm on my desktop I can only agree with Springer, the case is weirdly proportioned with heavy lugs and light crown guards, the case back doesn't look appropriate for a 1675 either. I think OP it's probably a good idea to start the process of getting a refund.

After "time to go" posted a link to the OP's reddit account, I looked at the link and the OP had a fake Submariner on his reddit account for sale for $400 at around 1110am CST today. Shortly thereafter, I checked the account again and the OP deleted the fake Sub for sale there.
Below is a google screen shot depicting the link to the OPs $400 Submariner for sale which he has now deleted from his reddit account.
