Normandy Recommendations?
I'm in Paris for a couple weeks for work and looking for Normandy recommendations. Any beaches, food, or WWII history not to miss?
I have a car rental and am planning for a day trip only. |

The wife and I went to Normandy several years ago, and it was great. We hired a tour guide, who was able to show us pretty much everything in a day.
The good thing is that Omaha and Utah beaches aren't that far way from each other. The cemetery at Omaha is amazing and very moving. Adjacent to Omaha beach is Pointe du Hoc, where the U.S Army Rangers scaled the cliffs to assault a German gun emplacement. Definitely see Pointe du Hoc. Other than that, check out Sainte-Mère-Église and Saint-Lô, both of which are small villages behind the beaches that were objectives for the airborne troops that jumped in the night of June 5/6th. Good luck! All of that should keep you busy for a single day trip. I've only been once, but pm me if you'd like more details. |
