Metal bracelet choices for a DD 1803/8?

Hi everyone,

I am new to TRF so I apologize if the topic of this thread has been discussed in the past.

I understand that the Day Date predates the President bracelet. I was wondering what other Rolex metal bracelets would (a) fit on a DD 1803/8 and (b) be appropriate historically?

I have a 1970's vintage 1803/3 DD and I wear it with a leather bracelet. I have been looking at President bracelets for the watch but they're quite expensive. Once in a while I see a 20mm gold Jubilee bracelet (from a Datejust?) or a 20mm riveted gold Oyster bracelet (from a Submariner?) that are the same vintage, but would these fit on my DD?

As to my second question, what bracelet options did Rolex provide for the DD? I know that the hidden clasp on the President was once an option. Was it also ever a Rolex factory option to get a Jubilee or Oyster bracelet on a DD?

Thanks in advance for any help / insight that anyone can offer.

Best,
Danny

There were many types of factory bands for the daydate including mesh and paved brick. Jubilee was never a factory option but you could choose in the old days.

Thanks for this confirmation - much appreciated. :)

So, would any bracelet meant for a 20mm case also fit on the 1803/8?

Thanks,
Danny

no the endlinks on president bands have always been solid would have to be a solid gold variety made for a president case with a step in the case

See this thread and look at bands for 180388s for the 1803.

I don't believe this to be necessarily true.

I think the jubilee was ALWAYS an option. The term "president" only refers to the bracelet not the watch anyway.

The Day/Date could probably be ordered with ANY 18k bracelet you wanted I feel sure and the jubilee would be the most common option over the "president" bracelet.

The watch is a datejust hence jubilee band. As stated you could choose back then a lot more.
