Just purchased a 116710 is it real PVD?

I was told it's aftermarket PVD coating where they had to disassemble the whole watch. It's in rough condition. Does it look good or is it fake? Thanks

Rolex does not PVD coat any GMT watch so, yes, the PVD is aftermarket and will not likely be serviceable within Rolex authorized shops.

Icon5 Caveat Emptor...

Buy the seller before the watch. E.g. buy from a trusted source. Expecting anyone to ascertain real or not via some internet pics is a fool's errand.

Not my style either, but there is obviously a market for this finish.

The bezel insert numeral spacing is off for a genuine 116710LN insert. I'm not sure why it's off, but it's enough for me to question the watch's and/or bezel's authenticity. Compare the even spacing between the bottom of the numbers and the inside edge of the bezel with the even spacing between to top edge of the numbers and the outside edge of the bezel on the genuine insert below and the one in the OP's watch. Because of the black PVD coating on the steel bezel of the OP's watch, the outer edge much closer spacing isn't as obvious. It's a clever way to disguise the obvious.

What did you pay for it? I am 60-70% sure it's not real.

Why ask the question AFTER you've purchased it?

If you really need to know if it's fake or parts of it are after the market, then take it to a professional for evaluation or authentication. The only way to know for sure.

Another drive-by. It's been a week and a half since the OP started this thread. Crickets.

Dial, hands, datewheel and inlay are genuine. Case could be genuine as well, needs further inspection. Bracelet is an obvious fake. Overall a Frankenwatch
