Incoming/oops...

Since I got back into the habit of reading about watches every day a couple months ago I had been seeing the 5712/1A coming up a lot. Many times it would show up in this-or-that type comparisons or polls. Last Wednesday I stumbled across this gem of a post:

http://www.watchprosite.com/page-wf....2513/s-0/pzt-/

I had seen and handled this watch twice; once in the store, liked it, didn't buy it and then once at Patek. As I had been reading about it a lot lately, I was trying to figure out why I didn't buy it the first time I handled it. I couldn't remember the reason why.

Originally I had plans to travel south and order a couple straps for my wife's new FP Journe however my wife had noticed I was looking at watches from other brands all morning so instead she suggested we go north to the city. To make sure I went she suggested we go to one of my favorite restaurants for brunch.

When we first got into the AD I struck out on the main pieces I was hoping to see which were the Vacheron Quai De L'ile in steel and the Lange 1815 Chrono in RG. While we were browsing the cases a salesperson recognized us from our Patek trip and immediately proceeded to show me a 5712/1A.

I decided it had to come home with me this time. I am picking it up later this week. Pics incoming!!!

I've been thinking about it for a couple years and thought why not! I wasn't even drunk, so it's a legit decision.

Awesome to see so many 5712's, me included, the other Naut models are cool but nothing beats ultra thin blue dial, would love adding a 5711, or 5726 blue dial, not as thin but still not thick, or a new model with a cool complication and blue dial, I am getting at least one Naut in 2017, for now it's a 5711 but depending on what will come out that might change...

40th is real, or Patek is doing a great job of faking it. I love that you also have the ceramic diver. It's one of my favorite pieces I wear it often.

I agree on the thin size, I wanted the 240 movement badly and this was the way to get it.

Your salesperson was very observant of your watch interest. Looks like he/she knew exactly what your were looking for. Congratulations and looking forward to the incoming

As for the 40th, I heard they will have a couple of LE pieces for the big collectors. I haven't heard if they will introduce a regular production watch or not.

Of course a 240 should be gotten in a 5712 for sure

Consider yourself lucky as many of us had to hunt and wait for months before getting our hands on the 5712/1A since demand clearly outstrips supply.....

Similar to your interest, I have also been browsing the Lange 1815 Chrono recently. I wanted to take a look at the L951.5 movement in flesh.... The finishing is simply unbelievable!
