different color strap to make more casual/sporty

Hey Everyone,

Hope the forum has been doing good, i shifted to different hobbies so have not posted for a while. I would like to make my 5146R a little more sporty?
Any ideas? Would a matte blue alligator/croc strap look strange?

Try to get a strap that matches the moonphase.

How about a more vintage inspired strap like this?

Cannot comment on that store but if it was my watch I would either get an original Patek strap or order a strap from Camille Fournet in Paris who are making the Patek straps if I am not mistaken.

I suggest having a look around at A Collected Man.
They have great photos of their watches with many different straps to give you inspiration for your new strap :)

I like the dark blue nubuck:)

I would like a place in NYC i can walk in and buy it and have them put it on.

that is why i figured JR might be worth it.

I went into the wempe on 5th ave and their selection was terrible.

You can buy any strap you like as long as it is 21mm ends. Then walk over to 47 street and have any of the watchmakers put it on for $10. Alternatively, you can get a strap with quick release pins and put it on yourself.

JR usually doesn’t have pre-made straps. They will take your order and custom make one for you.

It’s not a sports watch, you can dress it down, but it’s still not a sports watch. Think of putting a spoiler on a Bentley it’s still a luxury sedan. Toning it down might make it more like a Bentley with less flash on the exterior. It’s a very elegant dress watch, I would leave it at that.

Likely not a popular comment but I wouldn’t mess with it, it looks great as it is.

Agreed. Whilst blue would be fine with the RG case, it’s the cream dial that’ll spoil the harmony.

JR in NYC is excellent. Highly recommended. They did a matte blue/grey strap for my 5524 that turned out beautifully.

Thanks for all the comments.

I understand it will never be a sports watch but since its basically impossible to get Patek sports watches at even MSRP these days making this slightly more casual might be fun.
Also the original strap has been worn to the point that the color has patina and is not the same as when i bought it.

Will check out JR and I know there is a Camille Fournett in the city too i will try to hit them this weekend and post the results

I find that a light strap dresses down watches nicely.

Here’s my Lange 1 on Ostrich.
