I think that is a fair assessment. It definitely doesn’t have the complexity I’ve seen in an aged offering. When it comes to whiskeys I’m really liking Glenlivet 15 and 18 along with Blantons. Bought the Hibiki for the same reason you described and I don’t feel it necessarily lived up to the hype. It was enjoyable for sure but overhyped
