watch dilemma resale vs emotion

Which do i pick:
1. in my mind, a gorgeous piece, but resale is poor, and would have to buy retail. 25k

2. A piece which is very pretty, not as much as #1, but i like it very much. My second choice. has much better resale, and i can get it preowned for 20k from 29k retaiil.

#2 I like very much, but not quite as much as #1, but with much more financial stability.

Ugh what to do

This. Good resale is a nice bonus but it shouldn't be the reason one buys a watch.

Buy what you love. Don't let resale dictate your collection.

We buy watches because it makes us happy, that is emotion. It makes our wrist look good and we feel good wearing it or just looking at it or even just the thought of owning it. The value of our watch is what our happiness is worth. Better get the watch that gives you the most happiness.

If you don’t love it don’t buy it. This isn’t a job.

Does not sound like you are buying a watch.

Good luck!

I like that you didnt include the actual watches to get a better perspective.

But if watch 1 is the clear cut winner and preferred option, how could you not go with it? You'll still want it regardless and may eventually cost you even more.

With that being said, I may be one of the few on here to admit that value retention is important to me and that's because I do get bored of watches pretty fast sometimes and personally don't know if a watch is a keeper until I've owned it for some time. Many times I thought I loved a watch, only to sell it at a big loss a couple months later because I didn't

I don't buy watch that I don't wear, and I don't wear watch that I don't like.

The lesson I learn over the years is that if I like one watch, but buy another watch for whatever reason. I would ended up selling the watch that I bought and buy the original watch that I like.

I invest my money and get my return somewhere else. Watches are for me to enjoy, if they go up in value, that's a bonus. If I lose money, its just part of the journey. If you are losing so much money it affect your life style, then you are doing it wrong. And you can't put a price on smile on your face. :)

Go with the one you like, not the one that everybody else's like (but you not so much).
