Joe’s Scale Models Part Deux

Since the last thread was a bit of a mess due to broken links, I thought I’d clean it up with a new one In the hopes these links stay around a little longer.

You’ve got some real talent. The titanic engine - did you purchase a kit or is it hand built? I’d like to see any automotive pieces if you have. Great post!

Thanks guys,

The titanic engine is entirely scratch built, as are most of the ships.

SMS Baden I’m happier times

Baden and her sister Bayern were a response to the Royal Navy’s excellent Queen Elizabeth class of super dreadnoughts. The QMs were more numerous with 5 being completed and surviving through the First World War to serve in the Second.

Thanks!

As for HMS Hood, I have built a model of her in the past, but it was a commission build. I’d like to eventually build one of her for myself. Hood was one of the best looking warships ever built. In no particular order, I’d nominate HMS Hood, the German battleship Scharnhorst, and the Italian Vittorio Veneto class as the best looking battleships.

I would nominate Iowa class BB’s as well.

So cool, thanks for posting! How long does one of these take you to build on average?

Wow! Truly amazing work. So you don’t begin with any kit at all? You say in your latest project you make them from paper. Very interesting. Do you have a website where I can learn more about your process?

Sorry about the late reply, I didn’t see it.

Sadly I don’t have a website describing how I do things, but some people do. I have a couple of build logs at the Nautical Research Guild website that might give some idea as to what I’m up to with a few models. The SMS Baden project will be finished this week and I’m starting HMS Malaya today. I can post links to the logs if you’re interested.

Wow. I am always in awe of your posts and projects. I didn't realize how small scale these really were until I saw the comparison photos with the quarters. I wish I had your patience and steady hands! Subscribed.
