Not achieving 70 hour power reserve

Hi all,
Noob here - purchased my first Rolex a few weeks ago, a GMT MAster II (from an AD). I absolutely love it but i've noticed that it stops after about 40 hours of non-usage, nowhere near the 70 hour power reserve quoted. Do you think there's something wrong with it? any advice appreciated.

First, fully wind it, about 40-50 "turns."
Then let it sit undisturbed and see what the power reserve is.
More than likely, it is not being kept "fully wound" by not enough daily activity of necessary arm movements.
This is actually a common complaint with new watch owners, and is "usually" not due to a fault within the watch.
So test it as I have explained, and get back to us with the results.
I would be willing to bet that the watch does have a proper power reserve.

Well that would depend on what power the mainspring has to power the watch when taken off,on a full manual wind thats around 60 full crown turns clockwise only, as the only wind on the forward wind and you cannot over-wind it.After a full manual wind should run off wrist around 60 -70 hours give or take a hour or so off wrist.And wearing a watch does not wind the watch its wrist activity that winds the watch, and with most today if not active enough they dont always wind the mainspring up to full power-reserve.So when they take watch off in general the watch runs to whatever the power the mainspring had when taken off before it stops..

so all's well...after 50 full turns and leaving it alone, my BLRO lasted 72hrs and 50mins! i had thought only 25-30 turns was sufficient (as with my current Omega Seamaster) so i guess i had only half wound it previously.

This is why I wind my automatic watch 20 turns each morning when it is in rotation. Without a power meter (an uncommon complication), I have no idea if my watch got fully wound the day before, and a watch runs better when near full wind. Besides, it allows me to interact with my watch!

I have the same question of 72 hours power reserve! I got a 116500LN and after 40 turns, I can feel a slight gritty, which I read it means its fully winded. Now that I read this post, I think I should aim for 50/60 turns but that gritty feeling is alarming.

Anyway, my last test, I think I got to 43/44 turns. And I let it ran untouched and checked every 12 hours - it lasted 39 hours 35 minutes and 20 seconds, which is far from 72 hours
