Day date dial swap question for the pros to olive dial

I am trying to get an olive dial daydate which is currently out of stock. I called Rolex and they said I would be allowed to do a dial swap on the model as the olive dial is currently made for the model type and it would be 2-3 months for the swap. I went in to buy the RG day date with a chocolate dial and my AD checked and said I would not be allowed to do the swap....

Any ideas?

I tried to swap the dial on my WG DD40, rhodium to blue. I was also informed that Rolex would not allow the swap. My guess, because you’ll get conflicting accounts on here, is that it comes down the hand type. If you’re staying with the correct hands (lume vs non-lume), they may allow the swap. I was requesting to change from sticks/lume to Roman/non-lume and was informed it couldn’t be done. Best of luck in your search for an olive.

It depends on which part of the world you are in. Usually, dial swaps are not permitted at RSC's until your 5 year service takes place. However I have heard of people getting dial changes at RSC's in Hong Kong and the large Rolex Boutique in Dubai. Best to check with your local RSC to get confirmation.

The dial line/no Lume is a valid point.. I’ll look into it. At the Toronto rsc there is no 5 year waiting time for the swap, you can do it immediately

My understanding is that the olive dial cannot be swapped for regardless of lume considerations

Day date dial swap question for the pros to olive dial

I thought a swap could happen as long as the dial came in the reference / original config with the exception of special dials (eg. diamond, meteorite)

Try checking with another AD for another data point?

I don’t know if this is coming too late, but the RSC in Dallas told me the swap was allowed and even quoted me a price. The RSC in Los Angeles had me on hold forever so I gave up trying to confirm. Ultimately I did not move forward with it, but it seemed entirely possible.
