I’m not keen on nicknames but I’ve heard it called the Bart Simpson the most. Must admit though the T-Rex nickname for the MK 1 39mm Explorer was quite a clever and amusing nickname.

"Bart Simpson" already means something in the World of Rolex. It's a Submariner dial with a particular coronet.

It says a lot about this mania for trying to coin a nickname that we're doing it without even knowing our Rolex history.

Rolex calls it yellow, I'm good with that. It's not like they have different yellow dials on offer.

Bijan is very much a Los Angeles thing. If you were rich, into fashion, and shopped on Rodeo Drive, you knew who he was. Very much like if you were a rich foodie in L.A. in the 1980s, you knew about Spago. Very few people outside the super rich know or care about Bijan.

Too nitche of a name.

Hulk is called hulk as opposed to some random superhero that only comic nerds know.

Never heard of it. To my eye, it’s mustard yellow. Just call it the Mustard dial. I have to say it is growing on me.

Whatever floats your boat, I guess

On topic & for the record - never heard of Bijan

In all honesty, I didn’t try hard to come up with it all. I saw a post about Bijan on Instagram, and realized that Bijan yellow, is extremely similar to the yellow OP dial. So I decided to make a sporadic post.

I call it Modena yellow...imagine having a prancing horse logo in the middle...that's how I envision it when I first saw this color on OP.

I'm not for naming the watch dial for him but Bijan is quite well known. Do a Google search for "Bijan Bugatti Veyron" and see the thousands of pictures of it taken in front of the store. Jay Leno's Garage had his son as a guest and they went for a drive in it.

RIP to a legend. Used to see him cruising around Beverly Hills, he was always happy to stop and say hello.

This is a pic I took of him summer of 2001. Here he is with his signature yellow on the interior and his jacket.

I'm sure he'd enjoy wearing the yellow OP!

Hmmm....

I'll stick with yellow for the name of a Swiss watch, rather than someone most of the world has never heard of.

Although the colour is similar, granted.

I think of a Taxi Cab when I see it. I like it though as well as the Taxi Cab green.

Didn't Bijan have a store on 5th Avenue in NYC years ago? It was right next to Fred a jewelry store which carried all the top watch brands. That store has long closed.

I've heard of Bijan. Unfortunately, it wasn't the best of contexts; throughout his trial for fraud and tax evasion, Paul Manafort's bills were routinely brought up in court, with pictures of the items Manafort had purchased from Bijan's Beverly Hills location.

I haven’t spent much time in L.A. but I still know about Bijan. Not really a surprise that a brand that takes pride in being the “most expensive” will usually attract customers with more money than sense or taste (including shady characters like Paul Manafort).

I vote for “yellow OP”.
