Anyone experience these earlier clasps popping open? I'm considering getting one to add some variety, but am worried about them staying closed.

My 17013 has one of these clasps and the only time it opens is when I twist my wrist while sitting. The force props it open, which is never fun, but occurs rarely.

Sometimes the inner deployant blades flatten out, pulling the locking edge of the clasp away from it's mating edge.

These things are completely adjustable as to the force of latching by bending the blade again - just slightly.

The only time I have had one come open is when I have caught the edge on something just right. I have never had one pop open that was adjusted to snap solidly.

40 years of Rolex ownership and mostly with 4 and 5 digit references...Never an issue with any of the bracelets...

Had one on a vintage Air-King and it was never an issue.

Vintage Rolex bracelets sometimes get unfairly labelled as flimsy compared to their modern counterparts, but they're bulletproof and extremely comfortable.

I concur. I have 2 Rolex with that clasp, from 1973, both bought new, after 47 years never failed. Long live the rattly bracelets & tinfoil clasps!

My Breitling Navitimer has this issue, I guess something on the clasp is improperly bent!

I owned several 5-digit models (Subs, SD, Exp II, etc) and some had problematic clasps - too loose, too tight... You can bend them around to resolve this, but ultimately I was glad to move on to the current generation of clasps which imo were very overdue.

I purchased a brand new bracelet and clasp last year from an AD and had it pop open several times. I ended up moving the watch on.
