I know Lange is a darling for many, but I find them kind of large / thick.

I'm more of a sports watch guy anyway, so my biased opinion goes with the Daytona!

Totaly different watches (dress/sports). So it depends on your style. If you wear a suit every day go for Lange if not, pick the Daytona.

Definitely the Lange, the green Daytona is not a bad watch but the reason why it became popular will always bother me.

This is crazy. Lots of Lange love but they are so illiquid so not many real buyers. Rolex is like currency. These are both limited wear watches to me. I own the wg black mp1 so that’s my pick.

You are right, EXCEPT for the mp1. 38.5 and thin enough. It’s the datos etc that start to hockey puck it

Lange. I think it is so gorgeous and the finishing is second to none.

ALS
That timepiece murders Gold Daytona in sleep based on sheer looks. That is a classy watch. No offense to owners of Gold Daytona (its for ballers)

The Lange for me. The green dial Daytona is well, too green.

Both! The Lange would be a great compliment to a Rolex sports model.

Just such different pieces.

The green dial YG Daytona is just a sublime piece to me - the gold takes on such an understated tone and the dial has such variation depending on the lighting.

The Lange 1 Moonphase in and of itself is a work of art - the detail and finishing is top notch.

They both wear much differently on the wrist.

Have you had an opportunity to see and try both on?

I have personally had the chance to see and try both in person - the YG Daytona with the green dial would win it for me. Love the feel on the wrist and it's not as flashy as you'd imagine IMHO.

I think it's pretty hard to pull off a chunky gold watch like that without looking incredibly tacky...

Cool as the Daytona is, it was much cooler when Paul Newman wore one.

Lange for me.

Man I may catch some flack here, but for me the ALS is for the horologists where the Daytona is for Rolex enthusiasts.

How do you not know which you prefer? Do you actually like either of them?
One is a clear winner for me, instantly, I don't even have to think about it, I wouldn't take the other for free because I don't like it.

I have a feeling that the word 'investment' is hidden in the decision somewhere.

I dont think this is a huge dilemma. Get the Lange and appreciate the beauty of watchmaking as opposed to being enamored with a dial
