Whichever you like?

Personally, I’d get the TT black dial.

If its truly a dilemma you'll need to at least see the TT on your wrist first.

I was thinking stainless until I put a bluesy on my wrist...

I agree it's an elder statesman's watch and I wouldn't have bought one if I wasn't lucky enough to be shown one in the shop and put it on my wrist. It looks stunning and I instantly whipped out my money.

It knocks the socks off a standard stainless sub, which is a great watch, but simply doesn't come close - plus every guy you meet doesn't have a two tone black sub, unlike the SS version.
This.

It all depends on what you think you will wear more. Personally I’d wait because I’d wear the SS everyday.

It’s the same AD (multiple locations throughout US) store. I think they log everything I buy. So all he would do is enter my phone number and my purchase history would show up. To throw a monkey wrench in my decision, they have the Submariner (no date) I can pickup too. I did some research and the no date (called Submariner by OG Rolex folks) has some very good history behind it.

Last thing I want is a safe full of Rolexes for something I started off as a hobby (enjoying nice watches). My last hobby, I ended up with a few hundred thousand rounds of ammunition..which lately is not bad since they are worth almost double what I paid for it.

I’m a bit new to the Rolex scene and he advised me to go with the SS for the reasons posted above.

There is another AD a few hundred miles away that also has a TT Submariner, but I would feel bad/guilty if I bought that from there and then bought the SS from my local store. It would feel like I’m cheating on my wife. My AD rep is badass and he’s really trustworthy. I don’t want to burn bridges.

My 2nd question would be: if you were a Rolex AD sales rep and a client bought a TT sub from a different store and bought the SS sub from you, would you feel pissed? Betrayed? I believe in relationships whether it’s buying a watch or eating at a local restaurant. I’m also curious as to how long these AD sales reps stay at their job? If there is a huge turnover rate, then maybe it won’t be so bad.

Any feedback? Do these guys stay working for Rolex AD a long time? My rep is in his mid 30’s, so if he wanted to, he could be at that store for the next 20+ years, and by then I would be older than Joe Biden.
I buy from whichever AD will sell me the piece I am looking for. If you were looking for a specific SS, BLRO for instance, and an AD you haven't purchased from before called asking to come get it, would you rather wait for your other AD to come through 3 years from now, if ever? I am about giving all of my business to one AD, but loyalty has to go both ways. Most of us on this forum are on several waiting lists, and have been given the "importance of a relationship speech", but I would never pass on a piece I want hoping a different AD will come through in my lifetime.

How large is your wrist? Have you considered a Seadweller? Blacks subs, while versatile, are pretty common. If you think you might pick up an SD someday, go TT Sub now. Sub is smaller and can be dressy. SD43 can be more sporty.

In other words, consider how your collection will evolve.

Btw, in the old days, as in pre September 2020, I would have recommended a hulk for your sub, but a little disappointed at new Kermit TBH.

I am partial to the gold and black versus bluesy so can appreciate your dilemma

One month is no time; wait a month and pick up the SS. Two tone watches are always available when you want one.

This is easy for me. Wait for the SS. Less expensive and will increase in value more over time, more versatile, classic and scratch proof. Plus it's much harder to get ....you can always find a 2 tone. But what do you actually prefer?

It seems the consensus is that TT are more readily available. That has been confirmed by my AD. It’s weird seeing a watch that costs $9,100 new, costing $13,000-$15,000 in the grey market, but a watch (TT) that is $14,100 new, sell for $15,999 in the great market. Only a $1,899 premium vs. $4-$6k. SS might be the route to go for since I’m in the infancy of my collection.

LOL - sad you base your decisions on strangers on a forum, resale value, scarcity, grey market value, premiums. Pretty much anything except what you actually like and want. It's not a hard question to self-reflect on, do you like something with SS/gold or just SS, which colors do you prefer, how does it feel on your wrist, are you comfortable wearing gold, etc. Good luck CaliRollieDilemaGuy

The problem is me. I like all of them. Just a little less on the TT because of the “old man’s” watch factor.

My first was a TT and I had an entire display case to choose from. There will be a variety of opinions some will say it's an old mans watch some will say its the most beautiful Rolex but at the end of the day YOU are going to wear the watch. Gold is better than SS IMO but SS is a little more durable. I would dive (and have) with a SS not my TT, but I wouldn't hesitate to use my TT in any other setting. TT with black is a killer combo because I love gold and black together but again these are my opinions, your gonna rock that sht so you gotta be confident and make your own decision.

These have a high probability (IMO) of becoming $10.5k grey market for SS and $13k grey market for TT. This is about what the previous gen was.

If you like them both equally, get SS first, it's harder to get at AD.

Get TT later, if your AD won't sell it to you, just go grey at a minimum premium.
