Mother of Pearl dials are nice - especially on a lady.

But you know, Platinum is more rare, harder, and worth three times what gold is.

I dig it when women where 40mm watches. Not a huge fan when I see women in 44mm like big Panerai, but a 40mm Panerai, or Sub would look really good.

If you’re looking for something somewhat smaller I would say the mid size yachtmaster looks good!

My wife wears a Sub Date and GMT II very well ;)

Try a few on and see what "talks to you" :) :) :)

Fabulous Pics. Someone has an eye for photography.... of course the subject makes a photo too :)

Cheers.

If you like Mother of Pearl, look at the Serti Dial Submariner. Personally, I think you'd look best with a stainless Daytona with a brightly colored leather strap. I think a shiny white leather strap would be best. Rolex sells a white gold Daytona, but why pay extra for gold if it's gonna look like polished stainless steel?

Also, if you like MOP, check out some of the models with the Meteorite dial. I bet you'll like it too. Only problem is that I don't think you can get Meteorite with stainless so the price goes WAY UP.

Best of luck,

Rawhyde

I took a look at the dial you spoke of and its hot! it also comes in diffrent colors! I like the stainless band..is leather cheaper? id love it if i could get a tight knit chainmail band for it...(think knights armor) ...

Well it might depend on whether you wish to accessorize with a yellow (gold) metal or a white (stainless or white gold) metal.
Yellow gold does seem to be associated with a more, how can I say, mature appearance, whilst stainless steel is a more sporting type of image or persona.
Yellow gold does seem to have more of a bling factor associated with it.
Rolex stainless steel is very famous, as they use a special grade.
Stainless steel will also be more affordable and less prone to scratches and wear.
In the end you have to choose what will make you happy.

Young, dark skin, tall and slender .... a 116234,Jubilee bracelet, white dial,Romans or diamond dial, will suit you nicely. Only problem I have with the diamond dial is that it ads too much to the price and on used value you will get less $ for the $ spent.

You should thank your ex friend for stimulating your interest on a subject we all love.A Rolex is special.Enjoy the experience.

Firstly, you or your friend need to decide on your price range.

That will then determine whether you go for all steel, TT or solid gold.

Second, do you want professional range (sports) Explorer, Sub, SD, GMT, Daytona etc. or classical dress watch DJ, DD.

Then dial configaration as well as colour, as this may be limited depending on your watch choice.

Don't just limit your choice to Rolex (now calm down guys), there are many nice high end brands out there. Also look at discussions page (non Rolex) in this forum for ideas.

Here's a cool one for you

Best to go to a good AD such as the Tourneaus, Wempe etc. where they carry a large selection of variants of Rolex as well as other brands.

Happy hunting, keep us informed.

John.
i tried this watch on few days ago at an AD... my hands and my mind just melt as soon as i tried it on....

If your talking about mother of pearl its expensive but the nicest way to go! I say go for a datejust with MOP (mother of pearl) since it should be cheaper than a daytona
