Icon17 Patek and AP lunch-time action

This would have been an expensive lunch break had I brought my wallet with me...

Notice the quality of the AP and PP pictures - it was as if by going to the PP showroom gave my mobile an incentive to take better pictures!

First up is the AP RO Dual Time. Amazing on the wrist. Absolute work of art. Sadly the darker dials suffer from the same legibility issue as the Daytona, so definitely the white dial for me.
the sales chap was willing to knock 25% off this for me! how's that?? you don't get that with Rolex here in England!!

Next up is the ROC, very very nice panda dial, however, sadly the outer dark hour ring makes the dial look very very small for my liking. Again, sales guy was happy to do an on-the-spot deal at 25% off retail. Also said these chronos put the Daytona to shame. what an honest champ

next to the Beast

Now onto something special. This is an absolute work of art. Look at it! it's the second time in two weeks i try this one and every time it almost makes me want to cry. Even my girlfriend loves it
the sales assistant was great. said he'd happily ship to my work in Hong Kong to avoid Vat. very helpful guy.
i let him try on my DSSD and we discussed how best to resize the Beast to get the best fit

finally, the sales assistant brought this out which he said was reserved for Chinese walki-ins with cash, but as he didn't feel i was a dealer who'd buy and sell it online for a quick buck, he was happy to show it to me as well as sell it. i should have brought £34k in cash

A lot better than rød pølse for lunch, for sure!

You should go for the Aquanaut, looks great in YG

Thanks for sharing!

I really like those AP's, the Dual Time is a bit quirky in its design but more fun.

That specific Nautilus is a dream, my fav Nautilus actually, but too rich price-wise IMO for a stainless steel watch.

That leaves the Aquanaut. Perfection. The gold version with brown dial is truly captivating, but the ss version makes for a terrific everyday watch, especially if you add a black croc strap to it.

I know how this is going to end... :-)

How many fiances do you have?

I prefer hakkebøf over rød pølse

Edit: Woops, read that a bit too quick

As much as I like the look of the RO Chronos, they are note very practical to me as chronos are harder to tell time and chrono-pushers are pretty much impossible to unscrew if you have decent-sized men hands.

I remember those photos, I just don't remember the rubber strap of the PP being that shiny. Here is a photo from back when I unpacked mine (before resizing the strap)

The AP dual time is just stunning. I tried one on at Christmas and it has left me with an itch that I just have to scratch, I'm even thinking of selling the SD16600 to fund the purchase!!!!!!!

Anders - what a lovely way to spend a Friday lunchtime.

PP vs. AP - it will be PP for me everyday, and 3 times on Sunday, especially if it is a 5711/1.

im hoping to get my greasy hands on one of these babies this year

Very rough lume photo on the Aquanaut

This is what sets it apart from other luxury sport watches - it actually has working lume!

And this is the experience you are waiting for - unboxing your own brand new first ever Patek Philippe! :-)

The rubber is not shiny on the Aquanaut, it was my flash bouncing off the stainless desk (notice the AP bracelet has more shine too)

Anyways, that Rose Gold Aquanaut is a BEAUTY!

PSV is right on the money with the Dial of The ROC.

Why not go for the best of both worlds. I have a PP 5980R. Awesome watch, the bezel is a scratch magnet!

PP 5167 gets my vote. The AP is a little too "in your face" time piece.

Actually just came back from singapore and I'll tell you that place is like a heaven for a watch nut. Saw a 5167 in real life and it's a real beauty. Completely understated yet elegant and such a timeless piece. It's so true what the slogan says (somewhere along the line) "You dont own a Patek, You merely take care of it for the next generation"

Our 10th anniversary is coming up in a few months and considering purchasing one for hubby. In time, hopefully it'll be passed on to one of my boys.

Good luck with your decision.

Now that's a great way to spend your lunch time.

That AP dual time looks pretty interesting, and the PP 5711/1 would be pretty grand as well.

That expensive yet they ship them in a plastic bag with a small piece of industrial foam. Anyone else think it's a bit off.
