Just back from rsc
wanted to post image of what rsc is doing with a late 1970 1675 . Great movement service running perfect time ref atomic clock at 0.0 after 24 hours but not sure why they changed out the date wheel? watch was losing 30 secs a day before service. all of the original parts/dial/hands/crown were returned to me. I was told it was decided on a per customer basis whether or not to return the parts. also lost the flattened 8 bezel disc which I am trying to get back it was replaced with round 8's insert. original insert had a pretty bad rust spot on the ten. thanks

Just back from rsc
Interested to hear more. I have a ‘68 I’d like to send in, but am worried about not being in control of the choices once it’s there.

No reason to ever use RSC for vintage...unless you're adamant about having service parts to take away the originality of the watch unnecessarily.

What about re-lume and aftermarket relume taking away from the value? Or: does factory reluming matter? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro |

RSC wouldn't relume anything...yes relumed dials and hands are frowned upon and the value usually reflects accordingly.

So...if I want to see my watch at night: replace the dial and the hands with new ones and then keep the old stock parts for resale/heirloom value? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro |

Yep. Source the service parts separately and go through an independent watchmaker to keep your old parts stashed away.

Great looking watch.
Yeah, for the future, find yourself a good vintage guy to work on it. |

Thanks for the interest in my post all of you are right and informed in your opinions. I have the original dial hands and crown. Hopefully I can have them reinstalled at some point but I’m actually enjoying the sparkly new quality and glow of the fine work done by rsc at the Pennsylvania service center. I’m not sure where it is but all vintages are sent there now so rsc la took care o f it. Sf vintage rsc is now closed. I was scared at first about rsc but they took good Care of me. I have the papers and the warranty now certification for what it’s worth from Rolex that means a lot to me. It was expensive but I did get the original parts back. Not sure what their criteria is for return of non trade in items but they did it for me. I intend to get the bezel disc back since it was a non trade in item i will post when issue is resolved. For security reason s I can’t reveal exact prices but it was multiple times more expensive than a service outside of rsc

Wow, so they redialed it, and replaced the bezel and hands. At least you have the original parts.

RSC treats the date wheel as part of the movement, so will replace that as standard without telling you. I managed to get them to replace my original when they changed it at service a couple of years ago without telling me. (I noticed a week after it returned from service, and took it back myself).

I would like to see someone send in a DRSD and ask for dial back, just to see what they would say.

Thanks for sharing what a new 1675 service dial looks like. The crown looks quite special. Now you have a brand new 1675 look alike. Enjoy the watch! A lume shot will be great! Cheers

Thanks for your reply, actually they just replaced the disc insert.
the bezel is the same. I will get that and the date wheel back. it will not be a problem since they are clearly stated as "non Trade in Items" I have heard varying degrees of concern about date wheels and the maintenance of originality. There is some confusion about what date wheels were original during certain various periods. and maybe some inconsistency. I will let you know what happens as I feel it is important to monitor Rolex and their stances on the ridiculously sensitive issue of maintaining their service obligation on vintage pieces. Could be a huge market for them? |

Spectacular service - I didn’t know Lititz was the vintage Service Center in the US.
Glad to got the original parts returned, and a couple more on the way back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I had my doubts about the lume situation on the original dial. looked suspiciously like a bad relume job rather than a natural degrading of the tritium. might put it back one day. or source a gem and pay for it.

I understand the sentiment to keep it all or as much as possible original, but must say, that looks completely awsome! Personally, I would want old parts replaced and have it looking like new. Anyway, congratulations on a great piece!

Yes I think you are right the piece was presented to me priced accordingly. It was a mess, slow and crown always pulling out now its my daily service free for the next 30 years. Waiting for the red sub, I heard it might be coming in a few months. RSC has an service and restoration option for highly collectible pieces now anyway. You can ask about it.

RSC has a NOS resto service for rare subs. All parts are sourced from the parts bank and are NOS. I asked about it and it does exist. Apparently pricey maybe nonrefundable deposit of around 500-600 reQd.
