Loupe Recommendations

What loupe do you fellas recommend for watches? Is one enough or does a guy need a few of different powers?

Don’t look at your Rolex with a loupe. You will be disappointed.

Have to agree a loupe especially with a new Rolex owner can be that owners worst enemy, if you are not trained as a watchmaker then no loupe is required.

x2*. Anything beyond a magnifying glass, with Rolex, you don't need/want to know.

* no pun intended.

yes

I never use a loupe except to look at the movement, never the dial as its bad for OCD. With Rolex that means no loupe at all.

I have a GIA loupe but they dont make them and I don’t remember where they sourced them. It was a freebie from when I worked there many years ago. That job brought me to San Diego actually.

I agree.

25× looking at a matte dial is like you've landed on an alien planet

I use the 4× for general watchmaking things, 10× usually when lubricating the escapement, 25× for checking certain things like the oil in the anti shock, checking the oiled escapement, etc.

I have a Belomo 10x. Don't expect perfection though, Rolex quality is excellent, but a 10x loupe will reveal even the most minicule "imperfections".

I currently have a cheap no name brand I got at Harbor Frieght many years ago. I’ve used it to look at my dials before. I’ve seen the tiny imperfections. I think I can handle the truth .

I just want a better quality piece of glass.

Thanks for all the recommendations!
