Platinum Coke GMT...here’s my guess with ZERO pedigree.

There you go. Either platinum or WG Coke. Need to get rid of similar looking BLRO.

As stated, the failure rate is high.

One can make an item as best they can putting in every effort to perfect the process.
But if there's a high failure rate due to a critical step in the process having unpredictable outcomes. Then it's game over for a disproportionate number of units.
It could also be a matter of the finished product not meeting acceptable standards resulting in a high rejection rate, but so far the information available only relates to failure rates being mentioned.

It was the same thing for Plasma screen TV's back in the day, and a major factor in the high production cost which was inevitably passed on to the consumer.

Update: I just now texted my contact at a 2nd AD who is in different part of the country. They confirmed and said they were informed yesterday via email that the BLRO is discontinued effect immediately. This is a large Rolex Boutique.

Sounds like we now have 3 different AD's confirming in the last week.

You don't have to justify your position.
You won't please the sceptics.
Time will tell

I don't see it as justification. He's passing along information he finds out as he discovers it. More data means a better idea of what's happening.

You're right, though: the skeptics will not be convinced.

Haha, thanks. Im not worried about the internet skeptics. I know these two guys well and trust them. 2 large dealers confirmed that they received the same message direct from Rolex in last 24 hours. Neither of them is trying to sell me a watch. I had a rather funny exchange with my contact and I said must be b/c its a slow seller and he replied "more like a non seller" as they have had one in their case for several years that remains unsold.

I heard that Swatch Group had negotiated exclusive rights to produce and sell the WG BLRO.

Thanks and that is all I am doing is passing on info . I reached out to the 2nd guy because as I said in my first post, take it with a grain of salt. Two separate confirms is all I need. Both of these AD's are very large and neither of them are trying to sell me the "last one" because they both know I already own one. The first sent me a txt this morning that said FYI ....and the 2nd I reached out to see if he had heard anything.

Maybe all this bad news (I'm not questioning your info) will drive prices down to the $10k mark.

I believe by discontinue the BLRO, Rolex is announcing the SS Pepsi soon, hopefully this at this Basel.

It has been more than 4 years since the development of the last expensive Pepsi ceramic bezel, I think a newer cheaper version of the bezel is coming out. Here in the Silicon Valley home of Google, Apple, facebook, an idea for a startup can be implemented and hit the market place in less than 4 years. I joined a high tech startup at an early stage, we engineered, tested, marketed the products, then sold company itself than less 4 years LOL

My 2 cents

Hold onto those Pepsi 16710's.

If you thought they were expensive now......wait until tomorrow!

If I am lucky, maybe my BLRO will turn into a PN Daytona!!

Low production unpopular model becoming desirable with time!

There's a BLRO at an AD I frequent that still has the old green tag with the serials (as opposed to the current white tag with the serial number), which is a telltale sign it's been sitting there for years. I wouldn't be surprised if it was discontinued!

Or perhaps market it as a limited production model

I will be on the phone the morning of Basel whenever a SS Pepsi is announced begging to get in line at an AD.

And take it easy on the OP. People flamed guys for saying the same thing last year with the SD4k.

No.

The BLRO was/is a terrible seller. Why would a Coke in PT or WG sell any better?

Sounds like the wg blro has a lot in common with the original gmt with the Bakelite dials.

If it gets discontinued, wonder what’s going to happen to the prices...

For what it’s worth I was told the same by a Boston area AD last week. They’d made a notation in their catalog that it was no longer able to be ordered.

I was at my AD a few weeks back and the only sports model they had was the BLRO. It's a stunning watch so I'm a bit puzzled as to why it's not a decent seller.

I would say that 5 different ADs saying you can’t order one might be an indication of it being more than a rumor.

They’re going to replace it with two-tone Blue one
