As much as everyone is stating find a new AD, every single one of us would accept the terms upon being offered the Daytona C we’re all so coveting. If you pass and find a new AD 10more people are in line waiting to take your offered watch when it comes to your turn. Not sure how this changes things really

I wS at my AD yesterday and was told changes are coming directly from Rolex. Not sure how what exactly she meant.

Has nothing to do with flipping. Has EVERYTHING to do with the customer getting everything he paid for, period. Just because you don’t have plans to flip it doesn’t mean some unfortunate circumstance comes up and you must sell it. Would you buy a 0-12 month old Rolex that was purchased from an AD without a warranty card? I know I surely wouldn’t. Rolex or a jeweler has absolutely no business taking what belongs to the purchaser. Doesn’t get any simpler than that. No warranty card, no sale. Pretty simple. |

I would notify rolex about the warranty card piece being held for 12 months. There is a reason why it is intl and they can’t hold it from you.

Why? Rolex is not withholding the warranty, the retailer is just withholding a card. If you need service, you will get it.

I heard some AD's were starting to do this. I would take my business elsewhere.

Also, I don't get the need for withholding cards. They should just change how the cards are marked, and ensure the cards are filled out upon purchase. I bought two watches from TDs here, and only because they could get me blank cards for resale later on in case I didn't like them anymore. If they couldn't do that, or even get my name on it, I wouldn't be buying from them and would be headed straight to the AD.

Honestly I think every AD should do this. The truth is resellers are screwing people who really want the damn watches. What is the percentage of DaytonaCs that end up being resold? I would guess that at least 50% if not more. There are countless posts on here of people who have gotten a Daytona for retail and immediately flip the watch. It’s one thing to sell a watch down the road if you no longer like it and another to want it just to make a quick $6-8k profit.

Glad I have a good relationship with my AD. Just got my BLNR on Tuesday, shipped from out of state, all stickers intact, with warranty card and a discount. Not all ADs are going to the dogs.

This past Monday after purchase my AD told me they were supposed to withhold my warranty card per Rolex instructions now. They did remove all the plastic stickers, but I also walked out with my warranty card in hand.

I actually like this policy. I want a Daytona to wear and this may cut some of the flippers off the list, moving me up!

A warranty card is just an easily copied piece of paper. Would not stop me buying a hard to get watch at MSRP. A lack of warranty card of a watch sold at an AD would stop a flipper, though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Exactly and it’s not like you’re not going to get it back! People don’t wear the card. It just sits in the box which is stored away. The only reasonable argument against this would be warranty service but how often will a watch really need to have any sort of work done in the 1st year? Let’s say something is wrong and you are abroad. I’m sure that the local AD or RSC can contact the original AD and verify ownership and that the watch is under warranty without a problem. This is 2018. We’re not living in the ‘50s! They can easily fax or e-mail a copy of the card.

Everything about this annoys me. If I want to keep stickers on (especially on the clasp as I do a lot of desk diving, that is my business, I bought it, it belongs to me), I will.
The warranty card? That belongs to me. A questionnaire? GO #### YOURSELF! Would be my response. I would never do business with this AD again if I was an existing customer. I'd prob go in there and give them a piece of my mind too. This forum has shown me how rough it has gotten on the other side of the pond - I'm sorry to my fellow enthusiasts over there, must suck to have to deal with these kind of shenanigans! |

AD in Chichester U.K. holds onto warranty card for 12 months. Told them to poke their SD43 and any future business.

I would not worry about it. Just get a copy or black on white statement that the card is kept at the AD. Actually I think it is good to frustrate the watchtraders and flippers a bit.

If I planned on purchasing a car with cash and they wouldn't hand over the title, I'd go someplace else. Watch is no different.

I would write in an additional stipulation.
"Watch will be paid for in full upon receipt of all items included with a new watch, including warranty card." |

Buy the watch, wear the watch. Ive not seen my box/card in over a year its in the safe. If this stops people buying watches and flipping for profit thats fair enough. Also if you keep any stickers on your watch it should melt after a week, its like people keeping the screen film on their mobile.

All this is a new policy from Rolex. I picked up my Daytona C 2 weeks ago and they had to remove stickers, write my name on the warranty card, activate the warranty via machine. I went home with my warranty card. I have no problem with this as i bought to wear and keep the watch.

Not an equivalent situation. There isn’t rampant reselling of cars the way there is with these watches. It does happen within the exotic car market especially when it is a new model or a limited edition but this affects an affluent population that has the means to pay whatever amount to obtain what they want. A better comparison would be event tickets. Wimbledon takes care of this really well. Tickets from the lotteries cannot be resold at all. The only resellable tickets are debentures which help finance the tournament.

Saw someone here referencing the possible need to sell within the year timeframe.
Although the removal of all stickers somewhat rankles me, I do understand why and ultimately am ok with it. Waiting a year for the card would be a deal breaker for me on general principle. |

This is absolutely unacceptable. Are you buying the watch or just "leasing" it at full price for 12 months? If they sell the watch then it should come complete - and that includes the warranty card.
What the hell happened to customer service? To being customer-focused?! Now, instead, we should be ecstatic that they let us spend insane amounts of money on some shiny bauble and under any conditions? This AD wouldn't get a penny from me. About the only thing I'd give these clowns is a tall glass of GFY.
