I like the clean look of the No Date. I also don't like the cyclops. If the Date didn't have a cyclops, I probably would have preferred it. However, I don't really need a date.

So, No Date was my choice.

There's probably many multiples of this very poll. Maybe this one should become a sticky?

I love the symmetry of the no date model. A purist choice!

Please note: it’s Submariner or Submariner Date.

That out of the way, Submariner would be the choice if your interested in a clean look, and can go without a date.

Go with the Date. It’s so much more practical. There is no reason to stay true to the original since no one uses Subs for their purpose today anyway. Divers use computer watches today and have a for quite a while now.

You can have any color no date as long as it’s black.

date. i'm one of the vanishing breed who still writes checks, and look at my
watch for the date, which is annoying when i'm wearing my daytona.

What's a check?

I write five or six a year, four of which are my federal quarterly estimates.

The 114060 "No date" seems to be more for purists of the original Submariner who want a throwback to the 1950's original model. The 116610ln, which is a beast and a legend in it's own right seems to be more for the modern day Rolex owners who want the latest and greatest.

Neither one is better or worse. I'm a purist.....I'm a Sub "no date" guy and should have one very soon. And seriously, how many 114060's have you seen in the wild vs. the date version 116610ln? Me personally, when I see someone wearing the "no date" I think to myself wow, this guy most likely loves Rolex for its tradition and history. When I see a 116610ln, I think "cool watch, good taste but likely not a watch aficionado."

And finally, a guy that has a "no date" most likely has other pieces in his collection. Someone with a 116610ln, well, it could be his only watch.

Just my 2 cents.

I just purchased my first Rolex and I went with the SubC date. Debated the ND but I rely on the date too much on my watch to give it up.

for the benefit of the younger readers. a “check” is a means of transferring money in a time consuming and inefficient manner. fwiw, i’m making progress. i recently dropped the landline to my fax machine...

The ND was better with a 2 liner dial on the 14060

It doesnt really matter with ceramic IMO
