I had a chance to buy a GMT LN in Greece this past summer for about 7k from an AD. I passed on it then, felt like it was too similar to my Explorer (black dial Rolex sport watch). It's a great piece, but if I didn't want it then, I won't buy it now just because it's discontinued.

I bought my LN from an AD in Italy in September 15 with a substantial discount, and I like it very much.

Goes to show how many actually just enjoy the investment/speculation of Rolex and don't really care about the actual watch to wear. I didn't want one when they were a dime a dozen and I don't want one now that they are DC'd. Then again I am the weird one and just buys what I like and wear what I like with ZERO intent on selling them.

As a current owner of the LN, I’m pretty happy. If I ever decide to sell it, I’ll likely be able to recoup what I paid for it. And in the meantime, I’ll continue to enjoy it on my wrists.

And yes, I bought mine 2 years ago because I like it.

I grabbed one last month, just because it was there. I was between wanting a GMT LN or a Sub Date. Now I'm glad I got that one!

I had always admired it, but I thought it was a staple of the Rolex line and would never go away. So, I'm happy I did get one. I guess I'm more in shock than most. This is like Rolex discontinuing the SS black Sub.

Always planned to get one, but never thought I'd have to scramble due to being discontinued.

Same here. I love the design. Somewhere between a sub and yachtmaster in terms of flash and function...

Got mine a day before they announced that it was discontinued.

Everyone started commenting on how lucky I was but I'm not so sure. If value goes up, good. If not, I don't really mind.

These things seem to have their own cycles anyway.

I purchased mine when it first came out. It’s still my favorite. It has the rolex green superluminova, which matches the green arrow nicely.

I was lucky enough to pick one up on Wednesday. I was between this, an explorer I and sub w/date. Rolex discontinuing it made my decision for me.

I bought one Thursday - went in thinking I was going to buy a DJ41, either blue or grey dial, and walked out with the 116710LN - I wasn't sold on the way the DJ41 sat on my wrist. Asked about the GMT, was told it was on a "soft hold", but that if I wanted it, I could buy it. I have a 30-year-old 16610 Sub and a 13-year-old 16662 YM and had been wanting a Ceramic bezel SS watch. I really am not interested in paying the vig on the BLRO or BLNR, and I wanted an Oyster bracelet, so I made the game-time decision and walked out with an LN. I'm digging it so far, very well executed, but admittedly pretty darn close to my 30-year-old sub. Interestingly, the other AD in my city had one as well and I had eyed it earlier in the week before I was primed to buy.

This combo is perfect. Definitely looking forward to a ceramic gmt on jubilee some day in the future. Did you source the bracelet separately?

I have all the watches you mentioned and a lot more but for the last year I've been wearing a datejust 41 fluted on a jubilee and i just cant stop looking at it.
Anyone that can get the hot watches at retail price would be a fool not to but it doesn't mean that they have to love them .
The LN hasn't left my safe for 4 years due to me having lots of watches I enjoy more , I nearly gave it to my brother at Christmas but he decided he'd prefer one of my other Datejusts

I have to admit that I do get sucked in by scarcity of some pieces and yes, I do pay the premium of the grays.

But a for piece that had a good 10 year run? Probably not.

Whilst it is a very well designed and constructed watch, I could just never 'get into it' even though on a few occasions in the past, the opportunity came my way. I thought it had just moved too far away from the earlier versions. Interesting though how it now looks like it could really take off, possibly down to the fact that it is apparently discontinued and the older GMTs are seemingly nigh on impossible to acquire, at least in the short term.

I like the watch but not enough to own one. The discontinued trend for values is running short for me. Too many watches and not enough value to buy one for investment.

Quite like the watch but think a GMT should be bicolored and let’s face it, that’s why it wasn’t as hot as other variants. Nice piece and wouldn’t say no at MRSP but not worth a big premium imho.

If I didn’t own one I would definitely hunt for one and would likely pay a bit above retail for one. Although I think it’s a particularly desirable watch for people who only want one Rolex sportwatch and/or those who want a submariner-like with a GMT complication.

The 116710LN has been in my collection since 2010. One of my favorite sports watches. This reference is truly a brilliant and quintessential example of quality and class.

If for any reason I lost this watch ... I would desperately try to acquire another one.

Can't argue with that. YG TT GMT looks the best IMO. And I am happy I was able to get mine before they discontinued YG TT GMT.

Definitely the watch of 2019, seems more sought after than any of the baselworld releases.

Agree, I bought mine last year and ADs were telling me 6-12 months for it to come in. Bought grey at MSRP.
